What did you recently buy and why?

Here are my two most recent acquisitions:
1) Bought it because I think generic gold is a decent bargain right now. This type of coin at melt + 5-15% is what scratches my collecting itch and is also a bullion play.
2) Bought because it walked into my LCS the day before. I always wanted one, could never justify buying one from the reputable internet dealers at the quality/price that they had, and I like getting interesting stuff and supporting my LCS. While not a coin, I thought it was something cool to own.
Anyone else care to share?

So even CACed generics are trading for 5-15% above spot? Wow. I know AU58 is a circulated grade, but that is still surprising. I guess the non-CACed pieces must go for melt.
I usually get generic non CAC at 0-10% over melt. Most times it at the two LCS I near me, and it always hit or miss. This one shown was from GC, and including shipping it was +15%...i was tracking two other generic date CAC pieces that were the similar price... i was surprised.
No numismatic items x 6 months. The last one wiped out the war chest for a while.
Before Dimeman jumps in here... LCS = Local Coin Store
I actually just bought this because it only had a $4.99 starting bid and that's what I bid. Lol And won! Sellers pics!

I bought this 1864 copper-nickel cent at the Baltimore show. It's part of a Civil War era date set I am working on which goes with my Civil War tokens. It is graded PCGS MS-64, and has some pretty color that I can't bring up in a photo. For those who like stickers, this has a duel endorsement from Eagle Eye and CAC. I bought it from "The Penny Lady."
And this is my new project, the 12 Caesars. This is Roman denarius was issued by Julius Caesar. He grabbed the royal treasure from the Temple of Saturn and had these coins made to pay off the soldiers who supported him in his quest to be emperor. This is a fairly common piece, but it is quite popular with those who collector ancient coins. The piece dates from 48 - 49 BC.
This was pretty, inexpensive, lustrous with original frosty skin, and I found the reverse planchet flake interesting as it seems to be the reason for the net grade on this gem
Commems and Early Type
This is my most recent. I purchased it because it fits right in with its sister Charlottes. Just need to ask Todd to work his imaging finesse at the next Baltimore (or maybe FUN?) show.
Thanks.
I have been collecting flowing hair and draped bust half dollars by die variety for 25 years. This is a new one, 1794 T-4/O-106 which is R-6- rarity, about 25-30 known:
Believe it or not I bought this blast white walker. I lost my other 42.
Mexico 20c Low pop 2/0, also interest in world currency. World super deal vs US

Consider the San Diego PQ, a dazzling lustrous piece with super eye appeal.
1835/34 Boone PCGS65 CAC. My idea of a PQ coin.
I got this box from the mint that I can't quite decide yet whether to open or not...

I am so pissed I am one of 169 people that got a 69 on what is in that box compared to several thousand 70’s. Have not seen my coin yet. Just know the score. So pissed!

Mexico 50c - working on set.

The 1944 is a dazzling gem / super luster.
These walked up to my table at recent Houston show:

Wow! That is a blazer!
What do you mean by you lost your other 42?
Why Not?
Thank you for the common my Walker.
A fire took some of my coins. I lost quite a few in the blaze.
Ah, I didn't know that but I should have. I saw the great posts recovering your coins from PCGS and ATS but should have realized that not all made it. Was it slabbed? Glad you got such a wonderful coin now!
Yes slabbed but destroyed. This one is graded 66 but in my eyes it looks a tad better than a 66.
Thanks again

You will 'only' get ~15x your investment instead of 20x. You could have missed out entirely. Your glass is very much near full, yet you focus on the air.
Both WLHs are gorgeous here. This was recent for the toning.
