    A bit a toning/dirt/smudge does wonders...

    What’s slightly more interesting is the “storm cloud” above/on the Memorial... hmm, maybe not that interesting just another dirty/damaged cent.

    Very good pictures... but it is simply a worn coin with some environmental damage.... Keep looking, you are seeing minor anomalies....Get a Cherry Pickers Guide...that will help you identify issues. Cheers, RickO

    My advice: When looking for minor varieties ... if you have to wonder about it it probably isn't worth bothering with.

    Agree there is nothing going on with the date, but is the S showing evidence of re-punching?
    Or maybe they all looked like that in '71.
