Some Hobby sources are reporting this morning that Brad Ream, of the Rockville, Indiana area, has died. Brad was a well-known coin collector and engraver/roller of elongated coins. He was in his sixties. He had had many health issues over the last ten years or so. Many Condolences to his widow, Kay Harpole.

    Losing another numismatist is terrible.

As a young man, Brad had worked for the late, Great Frank Brazzell.

Brad was a prolific engraver, and many of his issues were small, numerically.

His wife Kay is an excellent ec engraver too.

I have elongated coins that I can make images of, but it takes some time. I gotta find them first!

Brad made many elongateds for the Chicago International Coin Fair, and these often included images of French and other older European coins. Brad always attended the CICF if he was healthy enough to attend.

    Condolences to all...

Brad Ream of Banyas Barnesyarde has made available two elongated coins created in honor of the 2010 Chicago International Coin Fair.

The first has a design based on a Scottish coin that honors Francis II of France and Queen Mary of Scotland, who were husband and wife. This is denoted by the combined letters “F” and “M.” The perimeter of the design reads, “35th Annual Chicago International Coin Fair,” and at the bottom are the show dates, “April 23-25 2010.” This design was rolled on cents.

The above is from 2010 Numismatic News https://www.numismaticnews.net/article/elongated_coins_mark_2010_cicf
