Just bought this Morgan for 40% of Grey Sheet...and I overpaid!

Teasing a bit as the latest grey sheet on my desk is from January 2017 and the coin in that edition is listed at $525 Bid.
I just won the coin at Heritage for $204. I like the gem coin and it is a good value at that price, but as a flip not much room is left. I will probably add it to my "the market is sure to come back" set of mixed type, grade and metal coins.
If you are still on board here...Here is my question. The forum has been aflutter discussing CAC verified coins. For that that make the assumption that eligible PCGS coins without a sticker have already been to CAC, where is the dollar threshold on that. Was this coin likely seen by Mr. Albanese when it was a $500 coin, or is $1000 the accepted number. Serious question and i would like to hear your opinions. Please keep the discussion civil and friendly as Santa is watching!

Not so fast... As after juice, tax, and shipping charges you are buried in that!
No kidding, I "won" another dollar that takes the total to over $400 and a much higher shipping fee. Hope the plasma center is open on Thursday.
With the high cost of all the additional add-ons at major auction houses now if I can't buy it direct bidding seems less fun than banging my head against the wall
$204 would have been good, $400 not so much but it's certainly better than dropping $2K on a modern silver eagle.
Looks like a solid 65 to me from what I can tell (cant expand your picture). I don't get the whole cac thing but I suppose if you could get a sticker then you would find someone in the Kool-aide crowd willing to overpay and make your flip worthwhile. My guess would be its already been there. Sticker, no sticker it's still a MS65 88-O just like PCGS already told you.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
Thank you for the response. The $400 was for two coins. I did an edit as I probably was not clear.
A specialty dealer I know has set a threshold of $500 for a coin to submit to CAC as the costs associated with 'failures' with lower priced coins make it too risky submit coins even if they appear to be a 'lock.'

My greysheet isn't much newer than yours, 11/2017 lol. It shows $375. Recent ebay auctions suggest $204 was a steal. Sorry, I don't do the auctions due to the extra fees but I thought you were suggesting $400 after buyers premiums and shipping. Congrats!

Grey sheet can work well for common type we see a lot of in the shop. For "good" material I buy/sell off trending prices. Currently bidding over grey sheet right now on HA for an upgrade in my personal set.
Do you use a 2017 greysheet?

Depends, am I buying or selling? Typically have current issue up in a window on my computer/tablet/phone.
Great buy. This coin has more potential than most of us think. Chinese market is growing bigger each day. And they aren't afraid to spend. From what I have seem, they care more about lucky numbers such as 888 instead of mintage.
Very nice looking coin.
Just looked at the other coin from Heritage. Bought it on the fly. Don't think it needs a sticker!
....... but wait ....... $400 for both? I'll take them from your hands
Closer to $500 with shipping, handling and weatherproofing.
I'll need to consult Santa first. He never charges for shipping and everything goes overnight.
I don’t think it’s cost effective spending ~$50 (grading, shipping, insurance) at CAC on a $200 coin.
Green bean coins sell for premiums... Whether you can recoup your investment that way is another matter...Cheers, RickO
On any given coin won off Heritage, or any other mainstream auction venue, for $200, there's not going be much meat left on it for a flip, because the auction established its value. You got it for significantly less than what CoinFacts shows as low recent sale, and it's an attractive coin, so you could make some money from a non-eBay cash sale, but covering eBay fees and sales taxes flipping the occasional Heritage buy is not exactly a winning proposition.

That coin goes over $1k in the next grade.

If it’s a $1k+ coin in the next grade if I was going to spend $50 I’d prefer having PCGS regrade it.
Except the problem is pcgs isn't going to upgrade it because it IS a 65 but it could get the sticker then someone will pay $800 for a $200 coin. Makes no sense to me but that's coin collecting in 2019.

I doubt the spot beneath the chin was there on the 88-O when submitted and fog around the spot means spittle I suppose. I don't see it getting CAC. If that coin were in an NGC holder at their discretion they might replace it.
Yeah, the fuzzy spot will likely continue to grow.
