You don't see these all that often anymore, doesn't hurt that it's a slightly better date too. I was told that this is is the first generation of this holder too.

Here is another and a nice pickup.

And like you said I can see the slight differences on yours. I did not realize even these have older holders but it makes sense.

I love the disclaimer on the back. They must have felt a need to put it there back in the early days.of slabbing, which is interesting.

The disclaimer on the back clearly sums up the entire grading picture... until standards are established it will always be so. Cheers, RickO

I like the way the photo toned more than the coin itself.

Very well said... 100% agree, particularly with the "until standards are established".

@Gluggo, if CAC awarded stickers to those holders, your coin would get a double gold! Even though it's a very common date, that Morgan looks far better than a 45.

    Thank you Elmer

Here is the site which lists all the other and this holders. I used this to determine which ones I wanted to buy thought it was a good site, but you probably already seen this as this was listed earlier this year by one of the good members here.

I sort of went on a buying spree on old holders mostly Morgan Dollars, sort of cut back for now just looking at the Fatty NGC holders. Version 3,4 and 5 with no bar codes on them.

Here's a spin off the above that I bought around 20 years ago. It has lived in the top drawer of my desk as a reminder of how stupid I was!

The Morgan (with the grade in the photo) is the 1st gen of the PCI photo slab. The Peace Dollar with the bar code is the last (4th) generation.

    Too cool😎
The coin is also very nice👌

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
