Walker Fatty NEWP

I got this today, I love these old holders but this coin is actually nice, too.
A nice widget for under $50
I got it from Skyland Coin in Bristol, VA
Has anyone here been there before? It was my first visit and a pleasant one. π
Iβll likely go back next time Iβm in that area.

Very nice, a nice bonus that the rev label is intact.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.

These are my favorite NGC holders and are getting tougher and tougher to find!
Great buy!

I live nearby. Skyland is a great coin shop to visit.
Nice coin!
Very nice WLH.... I wish they still made coins like that...Incredible, ageless design...Cheers, RickO
They still do, ricko, but they only make half.

I find your title highly insensitive... Guess you didn't read this thread below?

Then he goes on to say βoldβ holder....as someone who collected long before there were any holders, now Iβm offended!
Jk, great coin and holder, however you describe it!
How is the strike? Full thumb?
Looks nice.

You wonβt find a full strike on a 1944 S but this coin has remarkable luster and originality and the old holder is intact, including the hologram. I donβt see any major marks or distractions, either. All this for under 50 bucks is a major score.

You struck a good deal, Great luster, probably a higher grade than ms 63. Good Job π
That thumb is nowhere to be seen! lol

I read that this particular issue was known for weak strikes and mine is a textbook example. That's probably why it's only a 63 because the luster is awesome and the fields are pretty decent. I still like the coin a lot regardless.

Thanks everybody! It was a no brainer when I saw it and he told me the price.

Looks like a candidate for a gold sticker.
Not worthwhile but would look sweet!

I love both .... the holder and the coin
I bet you felt as you were in a candy store
It is if you see what people pay for gold stickers on old holders!
If I were to send any in, I'd likely send this also... Why not?

Sure, if you can do a bulk shipment (with other prospects), then it might be a good idea.

Its one of the embossed slabs, not sticker, which are even cooler
When I get a fatty for $50
Nice score Ashland. The holder is a plus for sure
