Been watching this for the better part of a week with money in my pocket for a nuclear bid.

You don't see a lot of toned circ silver or a lot of nicely toned SLQ's. It looks exactly like a coin I bought at a show with my dad 30 years ago, so there was no question the coin was mine the second I saw it.

I had no problem paying $110 for her and probably would have $150 BIN'd it.

Saw this 1928 Peace in a mixed coin lot. Hope it was an okay grab for $20.

I've actually seen a LOT of circ SLQ's if not cleaned that are the same gray with golden browns.

    Agreed.

I think it has something to do with the surface arrangement of SLQs in general..

I found this Peace in a mixed coin lot from the same seller. I thought it looked neat, but I'm not 100% how I feel about it. I see colors a little differently than you guys so things are often different in hand.

You can tell quickly by looking at the B & E of LIBERTY on the obverse @ 12 O'Clock that this Peace $1 was cleaned and the toning is secondary.

Yeah there are some pretty neat looking coins that were cleaned and toned back over. Despite being details and damaged etc etc.

It's okay to buy if you like it as long as you're just paying bullion value for that Peace $1.

Oops I didn't notice it was a better date Peace $1's.

@Azurescens....What is the 'mark' on the jaw (below the cheek hit)? Looks like some sort of abrasion that has tarnished differently...Cheers, RickO

The discussion has apparently moved from the SLQ to the problem dollar. :D
