I think Spadone listed similar chips as an "alligator on Monticello" in his old book. Could be mistaken though.
I recently went through a 1960's-era Jefferson 'error' collection. Among the 1960 'Bar 0' and other Spadone-inspired minutiae were a few labeled 'alligator on Monticello', and they all had similar breaks. I never saw one on the side of Monticello, though- all of the ones in the collection were on top of it. I don't remember the dates/mm's.

I had a box of 2019 P nickels and found several of those chips in that same spot. I kept one roll and put the rest back in circulation, that maybe one of those.
