Thoughts on the future status of the 2019 ASE RP. Bought to keep or sell?

With all the interest in the 2019 ASE RP, what percentage was bought for a personal collection and what percentage bought to flip. Just curious what y'all's thoughts might be.

To be honest I bought to flip. The real question is flip now or wait to see if there is more demand in a couple of weeks?
Another question for flippers is whether to open the box or not.
Lance.
Bought mine with the sole intent of flipping for extra funds to put towards the set im working on.

You won't be protected on eBay if you sell an unopened box and the buyer wants their money back.
Take your profit quickly and don't look back.
I was hoping to get a few - one to collect and the others to sell. I only got one. I'm keeping it for the collection despite that large premium that I could sell for.
I just wanted one to keep. I'm not a crazy flipper.
Collector. Since 1986.
The mintage is 30,000 which is 125 less than the 1995-W. Both were saved in high grades. Will the price of this one likely come anywhere close to the 1995-W?
Cameonut... the second part of that question is will the 95W correct significantly downward now as the Queen of SE, not the King.

Also, what happens when the mint starts issuing a low mintage ASE every year.

I got one to sell to ya, box unopened, I just bought it a couple minutes ago off the Mint web site, and I'll only charge you a couple hundred bucks extry!
I'm sure the scammers will make a bunch of money off this one, let's see how the title will read?
2019-S Proof, W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver American Eagle Dollar Both for $599.00 IN HAND!
Hope no one gets any ideas...

$599 is too cheap for both coins right now.
Can't they meet in the middle?
Did you read what I wrote, or what you think I wrote, look closely.

What am I looking at? The missing "reverse" on the first coin? Sure, you could fake it. We go to that extreme? You could just sell the 2019-S Proof and pretend it's the rare one. Or you could sell the 2019-W reverse proof and pretend it's the rare one. Or you could sell a coin you don't even have. Why am I focusing on outright scammers?
I made an offer of $500 for this coins a month ago. I have acquired a number of these coins directly from the Mint and at that price. I will sell them for a fair profit.
What I was pointing out was my made up item listing for an eBay title was:
2019-S Proof, W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver American Eagle Dollar Both for $599.00 IN HAND!
It's the trick of the eye I was pointing to, a "2019-S Proof," and a "2019 W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver American Eagle"
If you don't pay attention to the title as so many don't they will miss the fact that a 2019-S Proof can be had cheap enough, and even the 2019-W Enhanced Reverse Proof Silver American Eagle can be had for a cheaper price than what the title I wrote as an example.
I never meant to impune your previous offer you made of $500 as a presale offer to anyone, I remember your offering it at the time.
My point again was how con artist who thrive on things like today's happenings would do like they have in the past on eBay and play the trick of the mind that you saw. Hate to say but quick reading would have made me a real quick profit just now. See what I mean?

I know you're unhappy. But my point is that the scammers are running scams all the times. That is really a separate issue from the possible distribution issues today.
Sometimes you take something written in jest just a bit more seriously than need be, nothing at this point would seem to make a difference in the price of a opened or unopened 2019-S ERAPE with the built in rarity, a lot would be paid for earlier issues in unopened boxes, who wouldn't want a 1995-W Proof Eagle in that instance.
I just don't see that kind of difference in this issue.

Perhaps, but my view is colored by some of your other comments today.
No, there is a definite price difference for the REverse Proof right now because of the slabbing requirement on the COA. You can't get the COA certified if the box has been opened. You also have First Strike, First Release, etc. available to you at a later date if you preserve the sanctity of the box.
Ok,
Let's take it one thread at a time, as I have, or not, it's not my problem, unless I have stepped on your toes personally, Have I offended you personally? I hope not.

No, no, we're fine. I'm not trying to be overly critical here.
When dealers are offering around $500 each, that sort of creates a false demand doesn't it? It artificially sets the price point high, then people see that and say "oh I should try to get one to sell to that guy". So now we have thousands of people buying with no intention to own, but rather just to sell. Hell I'd bet even 90+% of people on here are buying it just to flip. And take a look at all the new members on the BST who joined just to get in on the dealer offers to buy there. We have the dealers, their friends/family trying to get stock for them, the speculators and their friends and family trying to get these so that they can sell to the dealers with active offers.
Now, I managed to order one by myself, to own. I'd like to see the value go up on these, but not at the expense of average Joe collectors who got pushed out by flippers and others just trying to make a quick buck based on artificial demand.
IMO there was absolutely NO reason for sellers to start offering big money for these before the gates even opened. Of course they sold out instantly(ish) with offers like that out there.
Edit: Yes, I know dealers have to make money. But this way is in bad form in my opinion.

Then DON'T expect your coin to ever go up in value. You want your coin to go up in value but you don't want it to be a limited commodity? It doesn't work that way.
There is a very good reason for sellers to offer "big money" before the gates opened: to get supply. If a dealer didn't have an offer out there, the low level flippers aren't going to sit on their computer at noon and the dealer won't have anyone helping him to get supply.
I never said it shouldn't be a limited commodity. The artificial demand created by high buy offers on this coin pushed many regular collectors out. Do you really think it would have sold out as quickly if people didn't know they could make a quick $400 off it for 10 minutes of work?

Just look to ebay to confirm most bought for a quick flip.
If you want one I suggest waiting 6 months and you will be able to buy below the mint issue price, wait a year and you will be able to get one slabbed 69/70 under the issue price. Let someone else overpay upfront for you.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
I didn't get one for me but I was going to flip it if I did, then buy it back in 6 months, if it fell. I don't know if the $400-$600 price points will fall, I just think the bigger numbers won't hold.
This raw piece just soldfor $649. ebay.com
I don't think PCGS graded 70s will ever trade under $1,000.
I'll wait two years and buy one for melt.
I feel like this will not be the case
No doubt, that's what I recently did with all 3 of the 2016 centennial coins. Patience in a got to have it now society is key.

Apples and pears, man, considering the centennial mintage was over double and was a one-off "set".
I had three people try to order one for me right at 12 and the site crashed for all of them.😡
Make it a pocket piece, circulate it with other 90% coinage down to AU something, then submit. It will be one of one probably forever.
GL with that. Highly unlikely they are selling for mint price on secondary market ever.
“Thoughts on the future status of the 2019 ASE RP. Bought to keep or sell?”
Yes
I was only able to get one. I'm keeping it. I could likely sell into the frenzy and buy another later but who knows? Bird in the hand...
There is a substantial collector base for ASEs.
I think that the prices will likely come down from the current frenzy. However, I don't think that they will ever even approach below issue.
I am one of those ASE collectors/hoarders lol. They were saying the same thing a month or so ago about those pride of two nations sets. To each their own, I prefer my modern silver at or near spot. I'm holding out for a better deal and I am confident patience will prevail. I'd flip that sucker in a heartbeat and buy back later but that's just me. Congrats on getting one for your collection.

This is 97+% of the modern coin market in a nutshell. Most moderns are a one way market.
I read something about random orders with a signed COA? Is this true and who signed it?
The Mint Director maybe?
I just wanted one to fill a hole

If I had been fortunate enough to get one, I would keep it....I do not sell coins....they come to me and stay. Cheers, RickO
I didn’t buy one and probably never will. ASEs are one of the most boring “coins” available from the US mint. You can put any finish on it you want, it’s still just an ASE.
It’s not really the finish it’s the mintage number.
I think the 95 w will come down a bit but it will take awhile.. I like the 2019 s. There are lots of ASE collectors who will need this coin. So I think the future is very bright. I think if you get one below $575 you will be alright for at least a couple of years. Now if the mint does this again next year or the year after with similar mintage's all bets are off..
I flip for a good cause and it's not financial ..... may put this up for a contest?
If the 95W does come down I would probably buy one. If I had one right now I'd be looking intently at the exit sign, actually I probably would have been as soon as the 30k mintage was announced..
Collector, occasional seller
How much is the 95W now? That coin was always out of my reach...
You can't compare what happens to one-off commemoratives and a coin that is part of an ongoing series. They will most likely be cheaper in 2 years, but if you really think this coin is going for melt...smh...
Can you find me a single proof silver eagle of any year that currently sells for melt? Even the ones with 400,000 mintages?
