I was logged on to the Mint website before noon. At 11:59 I clicked on the Enhanced Silver Eagle, and got the message "oops: something went wrong". Refreshing the screen didn't help, so I tried phoning (15 times), and got only a busy signal. Finally, at 12:10, I was able to put a coin in my cart, but couldn't check out. At 12:18, I got to the checkout, with a coin still in my cart, but got the message "Product is no longer available". It's good to know that nothing has changed at the Mint's website. It still cannot handle a large influx of orders.
I had the coin in my cart 5 seconds after noon and still couldn't close the deal. I suspect foul play.

@Cocoinut the same thing happened to me, that's a newbie for the mint...I've never had them zap one in the cart.
I said this on another thread:
"I blame whoever in the Mint (the director?) set this insanely low mintage - it caused far more than 30,000 people to flail away at that website all at once and crash it. As a former IT person, I can only comment that the Mint's website got a stress and volume test free of charge from its customers……… and failed.
The flippers will love this issue, but collectors like me hate it - there are far more than 30,000 collectors of this series and it's unfair to those who collect it and lose out. I've been collecting this series for 33 years.
As far as I'm concerned the Mint's website got exactly the hammering treatment it deserved today."
Worst experience I ever had with them and site for sure! Looks like I finally got one, however I was surprised as it was near 12;15

I had this happen to me 2 years ago with the 2017-S.
Same thing here. I'm done with the mint. Time to cancel my subscriptions. No more!!!

I finally got one in the cart rather quickly but it was all down hill from there. No go.
What a mess even though all of my info was good and current.

Quit your griping. You knew this was a crap shoot. After 20 min of refreshing I finally got to the confirm order and was told I had an invalid item in my bag of several other items. Guess which one. LOL!
We'll have other chances for $$$ profit in the future. Be happy for our friends here who got one.

I do LOVE the low mintage and buzz, sorry to those who missed out.
You can still but one in the aftermarket tho.

Good point. Actually, PCGS should allow a mint error designation for these. "Mint Error - mintage to low to satisfy demand"
I work in IT. This is a failure in planning from an IT perspective. How can your website NOT scale in this day and age. Especially if you are going to release one of the most rare of something you have made for 30+ years.
And if that IT Director knew this was happening and said "the web site can handle that" to his superiors, either he or the people under him who gave him that false promise are in some deep trouble (or would be if they worked in a commercial space)

That's exactly what I meant with "they would be if they worked in a commercial space"
However, if they were in a commercial space they'd have priced it at 450 themselves knowing they could make money INSTEAD of flippers. Then they could have used that cash to maybe get a new website backend or better hosting.

This whole thing had very little, if anything, to do with individual collectors.
Don't remember this much gnashing of the teeth over the endless Olive Garden cards that sold out in less than a second...
I think much of the crying comes from the fact that many of us had the coin in our bag and while checking out the process kept rebooting. I had to start at the beginning of check out several times - over 20 minutes from 12. After the first two attempts to finish, each following attempt after "refresh" got me one step closer. When I finally was allowed to confirm, I was told it was sold out. First time that ever happened so I'm guessing over a hundred thousand folks were seeking the coin.
Saw a seller on Ebay with 25 sold, guess he or she had an in somewhere.
All you need is the willingness to spend a little money. One big wig hired 200 actors to stand in line in Baltimore. Other people (like me) offered people $500 if they got one.

Is this 2019 coin now the key or not?

I also tryed and tryed..kept getting the opps..it was in my cart..proceed to checkout..opps..very disappointing! But I figured something would happen like this after watching this info ..ugh.. some folks are just getting scammed!

I tried but struck out. Bought a $5 gold half Eagle at my LCS instead.
Look at the bright side, we don't have to be bummed out when we sold it too cheap.
I had three people try to order one for me. The same thing happened for all of them. I will not get a single one. I was going to flip them and fill in a gold coin on my dansco gold page. Oh well.
