Congrats!! The 1983 Bronze is quite scarce, whereas the 1976 Silver version is apparently more available (only 500 were struck in silver). The smaller bronze medals were first issued in 2005.

If I may suggest, it appears that the reverse has a bit of light PVC developing in some of the crevices. So, to protect it, I would have the PVC removed by someone familiar with that process.

Thanks for the suggestion, in the meantime I would put it in a non PVC saflips.

There is also one 1983 78mm Libertas Americana in original condition, box & coa listed on eBay now for $299 and $7.95 s/h plus for sure eBay now collects sales tax. Thankfully I got mine way cheaper than the one listed but it sure would be nice to have the original box/coa.

This is probably my most pristine example of the medal:

    What's in the cardboard mailer?

    What's in the white envelope?

    What's in the blue box?

What's under the protective foam pad?

What's under the acid-free tissue paper?

It's the 3" diameter 1983 Libertas Americana Bronze medal, as pristine as the day it came off the minting press!

Aside from the (removable) PVC, I like your medal much better than the one on eBay!

That is a beautiful medal.... Take the advice from Cardinal and get that PVC removed quickly....before it damages the medal.....Cheers, RickO
