Interesting. Seems his other set's are still active.
I don't think that it has anything to do with the market, in general....Just likely personal timing for him.

Looks like they were overtaken by the NEW set of LEGEND, which is not viewable! To me if you can't see it......it's not really there!
check out the legend market report for more info
That whoever owns/owned the set wasn't happy about being #2 and wasn't willing to spend the monies needed to recapture the top spot, no big deal really as I'm sure that #1 will someday belong to Mr. Hanson.

They were #1.

Huh? DLH has never been in that position.

Lol just goes to show how much attention I pay to the registry, however I suspect that someday he'll find a way back on top.

Right now the current finest possible rating for the set is 70.913. The new set that was put up a couple of days ago is at 70.47 and the Legend Market Report also said the owner will put up what will be the 2nd finest set shortly.
DLH will have a very tough time over taking either of the sets. Possibly the only way for DLH to get the number 1 rating is if the owner of the 2 new sets decides to sell his sets.

@Fairlaneman Sorry, I was looking at the wrong category. The one that didn't require FBs.

Read the press release. the #1 set was SOLD to the guy who has now reposted it as the new #1 set because he had a couple coins that would upgrade it. its not hard to overtake #1 when you just buy the #1 set already complete...
where is that press release
Legends website
Buying the best set complete is sure an easy way to get to number one....
Expensive, but fast. Cheers, RickO
I think it is the other way. The best set he bought looks like it had a couple of coins that would upgrade the set he already had. I say this because of the rating the new number one set has.

I had three Morgan sets in the registry and the best complete date/mm set I had was ranked in the mid 20's (~25 I think). Once I became happy with what I had I lost interest in the registry and deleted all my sets. Since then, I've upgraded a few more coins but I doubt it would have moved any of the sets more than one position, if that. It was interesting to see where I ranked with others that had posted their sets but I began to realize that this was just PCGS sets and only sets that people that had taken the time to post. So in reality, my best set was probably closer to 100+ than ~25 if "all" others were competing. It is, what it is and that's okay.
In thinking about this, I think what disillusioned me "the most" was I recall seeing "some" coins in the higher ranked sets, that IMO, were awful looking. Unsightly marks or age spots (a.k.a toning). Most coins in these sets deserved the higher grades but some did not.
Perhaps slightly OT but I rarely post a lot . . . . and this made me remember.
Several years ago I put a 50-pc. Commem Set into the top 20 and my Morgies hit #50 exactly. Using the "What if?" feature at the time, I added a PC63 89-CC and an XF-45 93-S, and took a look at what $50k would do to the position of my Morgan set.
I would move from #50 . . . . . . . . . . . to #49. I was in over my head.
That was 'it' for my Registry participation. Had a lot of fun . . . . . .but moved on.

thats illogical. if his set was "better", he wouldn't have needed to buy the #1 set in order to beat it.
At that level, it only takes a handful (or less) of better coins to put you in the lead.
