What is supposed to be special about it? Please be very specific when you post things like this.

    All glory is fleeting.
  • Re punched mint mark is all. Now the earlier two. 2.8 gram 1984 D LMC pennies I posted today might rock your boat don't know. But I know this all of them are different from normal strikes. RPM means re punched mint mark

  • So what is considered special could involve opinions that run deep in some areas of anomalies but errors will always be errors correct me if I am wrong. Thanks for your input this is how we learn to decipher the difference between normal and error and there is so much to learn in the field of coin collecting. This site hands down rules over them all. The Veterans here are the best at what they do and are packed full of knowledge. They will teach you if you pursue the information you are looking for. Even the old dogs on here learn new tricks from other everyday for knowledge is the greatest gift we can give our fellow man or woman. Thanks again

2.5 grams is what the coin is supposed to weigh.

You don't even start posting this stuff until the moderators leave the premises.

Those are face value one cent coins.

There is lots of knowledge on this forum, yes.

What is readily debatable is just who has it.

The weight of your coin looks correct. The mint mark and the 4 of the date look like they may have a slight amount of grease fill. It looks like there is a slight amount of ghosting of the date so a little die erosion along with the grease fill could be the cause of what you are seeing. I am not seeing a doubled die or RPM.

I do not see the RPM...can you be a bit more specific as what to look for, like D/D to the southwest, etc.

Were they still adding mintnarks to dies by hand in 1984?

It’s the OP’s MO look at their previous threads... :|

That does not appear to be an RPM.... die erosion and maybe a slight hit...Cheers, RickO

I also feel it doesn't look like a RPM. Could be damage. Also, a lot of early Zincolns suffered "split plate doubling". This occurred when the copper plating stretched and split around the edges of the devices during striking leaving a thin band of exposed zinc.

RPMs are listed on Wexler's doubleddie.com and the variety vista site. You should check there to see if there are any listed that match your coin exactly.

Also, RPMs are varieties, not errors

FYI - The mint stopped adding mintmarks by hand in 1989
