Would love a show report. Heck, I'd love a coin show in Hawaii! Good luck!
Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
She is a like a celebrity on the coin forum. You could sign her up to sign autographs at the show next year and probably double your attendance just from forumites coming to meet her
I remember attending that show when I lived in Hawaii, I miss it..
My Instagram
Lately I believe that she just lurks and not doing much posting. I hope she starts posting
again soon, I miss the positive vibe she brings to the forum. If I lived anywhere close to where
she would be signing autographs I would buy a few tickets.
@Paradisefound
I’ll be there.
I will too! I’ll send out some pics
I might go. Is it cash only and will Hawaii sales tax be added?
Can I drive there?
Please provide show reports and any @Paradisefound encounters.... Cheers, RickO
im liking what im reading already
My guess is that she is a private person. If she attends, you will not know it UNLESS she desires to meet & greet some of you. Otherwise, the only way you'll recognize her is if she walks past your table in a bathing suit with a flower in her hair - fat chance of that!
@Insider2 ....Yes indeed, she is a private person, and I respect that....but I like to tease her a bit here... Cheers, RickO
I'll add some "tag-chum" for our friend @Paradisefound to see if she'll take the bait and surface for a second.
Coin show, Hawaii, ParadiseFound....sounds like the stars have aligned! Somebody there needs to report, and take some pics for the rest of us that have no possible way to get there.
Don’t know about Paradise but I’ll be there!
Nobody cares.
I sure would like to go.
This is a public announcement.

We are rooting for you Captain~

Collector, occasional seller
Excellent. Have a great show.
Someone did show up in Aloha Crisp!
Thanks to surfinx for the purchase of the CC
Found a tough coin...1908 Saint with Motto in 63. It's the 20th coin in my Box o' $20 project.
First day was slow, second day much better, hopefully today will be great. Public was selling more bullion than buying, silver was stronger than gold. Purchased much more than sold
Nice gold! Of course the light shine would block the grade....looks like a 65?
I was so close to starting this series till I got mistreated by a dealer and went another way.
Third day, which is normally slow, was surprisingly stronger than usual. Other dealers reported that more collectors had want list
Yes it’s a 65. See cert number, last two digits before slash mark.

Check out you tube showing a young numismatic having a great time at the show. Search for Silver Nitrate you tube titled Hawaii coin show day 2
Maybe someone can post the link as I do not know how to do that
@SurfinxHI that Saint is spectacular!!!

I watched the YN video always great to see young folk interested in the hobby. Also a good friend sent me a clip of the show on Sun. But in both clips the crowd seems a little light. How many people attend? The show itself seems to be in a nice location.

That day 2 video is adorable making memories with his daughter. I love it.
He took the video just before closing when most people had left
AS much as I'd like to say that is mine, another forumite @renman95 is the lovely owner of that coin! I think he thinks it is just "ok"....and he did let me hold it for a few seconds... And he and his daughter hung around to talk story, which made the day for me!
I thought the show was really nice. Venue is always good, tho its expensive real estate!! ....But the Hawaii State Numismatic Association always does a great job, from set up to tear down. And everyone has Aloha as part of your mindset at the show. Mr. K, Jerry, James, and all the rest class acts (too many to name!). I love being part of the show, and hopefully, I'm ohana (I've only been in the state 20 years now...I'm not quite "local" yet wink -- but I'm working on it!). I believe this was my 8th or 9th year at the show, and for me, the show usually gets better year to year. I had several table helpers that might have been a bit noisy (my youngest son had a good cry at one point -- he's only 8 months old ). But with HPD around, no worries about security for me in the venue.
Show observations from the little fish in the room -- seemed like to me that of course, better date material was on the move, from copper to gold. But, it needed to be in great condition, and priced competitively. For example, I sold several 1928 peace dollars -- didn't think that would happen, but both in high collector grades (AU 58) were gone before the show was out. 1921 peace dollars also moved. Morgans appeared to want to move in the 66+ to 68 grades (nope, I wasn't the seller of those), or in really nice DMPL/PL conditions. CC morgans moved for me, circ, uncirc, graded and raw (one was thanks to @alohagary -- that he offered here first! -- y'all gotta move when Gary offers a piece, as they are typically really nice and priced well!) Gold was being bought and sold briskly. I watched a well known coin outfit's case grow over the course of the show fairly dramatically--and they bought from me as well (better date material). Common date circ gold was being traded at a discount, usually near melt or slightly above. I sold several $5 and $2.5 gold pieces in the 58-62 range handily. Not much interest in the larger chunks, which I thought was odd. The $10s and $20s usually do pretty well, but they did not move for me. The other thing that was moving, both from a buying and selling perspective was 90% silver, bullion, and circ morgans/peace. I must have bought about 50 morgans/peace, and only ended up with 10 or so by the end of the show. Sold close to $100 face of 90% as well as another $20 face of 40% -- if I had more, it would have likely moved as well, but I was out! I acquired 3 scottsdale lion bars, and they were gone in 15 minutes, and the 3 folks who initially passed asked if I had more. Foreign material was in demand, but alas, I had none. Overall, Sunday was more brisk in sales than Friday or Saturday for me, but less in buys (Friday and Saturday were heavy on the buys). I was pleased and tired at the end of the show!
Oh yeah....got to see the trade dollar set in person....Almost bought a piece from it, but Don had to leave due to the fires.
I'll post a few pics in below.
Aloha,
Surf
(and yes, before any of you ask, no sightings of a certain Maui girl for me)
Cases of coins! Woot!
Venue from midtown

And this.......
And the help....
Thanks for the show report and the lit’l helper pic @SurfinxHI.
Oh, and the Au looking good, too.
@paradisefound Maybe next year the show should comp Paradise a booth for what ever reason she might like to use it. Or better yet, Paradise should organize her own show in HI........with an auction too. I would be a consignor.
OINK
@SurfinxHI thanks for the show report and pics!
Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
@Paradisefound was last seen here 10-22-19. I hope all is well.
