Question for collectors who attend coin shows

When you approach a table with cases how do you like the coins arranged? Cents to dollars? NGC, PCGS and then raw? Do you like all coins mixed up? Do you like to look by year?

Tell me what don't you like if that is easier to talk about..

    I prefer them ordered roughly by denomination. Saves a lot of time for everyone involved.

    I really like the denom, date layout. P,D,S after that is a bonus.
    I don't care about slab brand at that point.

    Edit. Raw separate from slabbed in the same order as above.

    Raw coins segregated from slabbed coins. In each group, the coins are arranged by denomination and arranged by date within each denomination.

    Since I look to buy currency, I'll look to see if there is any currency on display. If there is any, I'll ask the dealer about my specialty, obsolete currency. Sometimes I get counteroffered "No, but I have a few Confederate notes." I always accept, because about half the time there are obsoletes mixed in with the Confederate notes, too. Coin dealers tend not to care about these technicalities but to a currency guy, this is like calling a "cent" a "penny". :o

    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

    Separate graded from raw, then sorted by denomination is good enough for me.

    I prefer:
    1.denomination Lowest to highest
    2.date oldest to newest
    3. Mintmark P,D,S,CC,C,W

    As you can tell I’m very picky and have OCD when the coins overlap each other.

    Denomination order. Graded separated from raw (grading service doesn’t matter for display purposes). The one exception is that I believe large cents and other copper should be towards the front of display cases. They all look like pieces of chocolate when they’re in the back of a case under bright lighting.

    Organized in some way that makes sense like above examples. The worst are the disorganized mess cases - I have seen a few and just walk right on by.

    Two things come to mind. 1) I never look at massive displays of slabs in the glass cases. It's too confusing for me. I just ask for what I'm looking for. If it's not available I move on. I also avoid impulsive buying that way. 2) The 2 or 3 dealers that I mostly buy from have very few coins on display. They know what I'm looking for and they pull those coins out from the back of their booths. I guess they're saving the good stuff just for me.......or.......they recognize an easy mark when they see one.
