Why I continue to collect coins -

I just realized why coin collecting appeals to me so much. It suits my need for organization - the desire to manage and designate objects of beauty- that I like.
The attraction of the shiny object becomes knowledge of what it represents. I became entranced a long time ago. This drives me on my quest.

I continue to collect coins because:
I like to.
No one’s ever come up with a reason why I shouldn’t (as if that would make any difference).
Collection of coins is the highest form of collecting trinkets. But not on the same level of collecting art, or rare cars, or even worthwhile equities. But you can hold them in your fingers, turn them in the light , and nit pick every fault that they have.
There is something special about about things that you can hold in your fingers........

Fun!
I collect coins because I like them....of course that includes history, design, rarity, condition.....Plus, they can buy things... Cheers, RickO
When I hold an AG3 Indian Head Cent in my hand, I examine it, and my mind immediately tries to imagine it's journey. I can't, of course, but I still try. It's maddening and beautiful, all at the same time.

I like my coins.
I do not like the process of organizing them as it is work for me.
That said, my coins are excessively organized
One of the reasons I started collecting vintage jewelry. Organized and shinny.
I am going to be honest and admit that I don't quite understand what you are saying.
Can you put it differently?
I collect coins because each design is like a little piece of art and history pressed into metal that has the potential to last through the ages and convey a message to future generations. With so many different designs being made these days it is possible for just about anyone with some money to spend can build their own message in metal.

I like order and completeness. So, it is manifested through these little pieces of art, history, condition, value and rarity. It is VERY addictive.

It appealed to me early on in life, because I like to study and play at my pace; and in this respect, it is a very solitary hobby. And nothing can take away the enjoyment. ( that's the part where "we" are having fun ).
Are we having fun, yet ?

My wife told me not to. So I must
My involvement in coins and currency soothes me from stress and appeals to my desire for analysis / organization.
I.........never asked myself why I collect coins. When I did, I really didn't have an answer. I think I'm a collectorolic as I tend to collect a lot of things. Kinda like being a jack of all trades but master of none.
