Colin Kaepernick: Man, America sure hates me.

    LeBron James: Hold my beer.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

Too many times ones opinion on morals, politics, or decisions in life is not predicated on right and wrong but on ones financial benefit. I find it disgusting when a billionaire is overly concerned about more billions and has little concern for those being persecuted for desiring freedom.

Especially when said “billionaire” is the leader of the free world.

When you get right down to the nitty gritty, everyone is a capitalist.

Even those who publicly denounce capitalism (i.e. politicians such as Bernie Sanders and various leaders of socialist, communist and other such countries over the years) are motivated by their own personal power and physical comforts. As such they conduct themselves in a manner that results in their personal enrichment.

Regardless of the statements of persons to the effect that they are advocates of liberty, equality and freedoms (speech, religion, press, travel, etc.), when the rubber hits the road, these persons will "act in a manner that is inconsistent with what they say" [i.e. the NBA is touted as being very progressive, "woke" and an advocate for social justice; however when it comes to marketing the NBA to the 1,500,000,000 residents of mainland China, the NBA and its executives, coaches and players will toss social justice out the window so as not to lose the revenue that will come from marketing the league to about 20% of the people on the planet].

It would be very interesting to see Le Bron James and other NBA superstars publicly announce that they fully support the residents of Hong Kong in their protests against China seeking to deprive them of the freedoms that they have under the UK-China agreement that led to the turn over of Hong Kong from the UK to China about 20 years ago. This agreement has a 50 year term that provides for Hong Kong to retain its own independence from the mainland China communist system. That of course will never, ever happen.

Politicians and journalists never fail to criticize China for its human rights violations, but not being able to live in your own home, without being murdered by the police, is a bigger violation than having your free speech suppressed.

He should stick to playing basketball, his profession. Don’t comment on political subjects to the press when you don’t fully understand them.

I read a report that Shaq publicly commented on TV about the Hong-Kong/Communist China/NBA situation; and that he announced his support for Daryl Morley and one's right to Freedom Of Speech in the USA.

Kudos to him for speaking up and stating his opinion.

I wonder how long this situation is going to be "newsworthy" and what the outcome of same will be.

I also heard that Hong Kong's local government officials withdrew the proposal for having extradition of Hong Kong residents charged with crimes from Hong Kong to Communist China. I wonder what caused that development.

His statement was moronic at best and just plain historically ignorant. He doesn’t know history and definitely isn’t smart enough to keep his mouth shut. The statement of losing his job when he is a billionaire is insulting to the hard working Americans that pay good money to see him bounce a ball. Shut up and dribble.

the problem is that no one really understands the pervasive nature of social media. The generation that has had a smartphone in hand their whole life gets it best

Us old folks that grew up without electronics are sort of ok because we don't have our most crazy years documented online .
Its the people from say 25 to 40 that are tripped up the most. There 20's and thirties , the time they made the worst adult mistakes might have been recorded on video and put online .

LeBron is a dimwit and he has people around him that probably aren't saying oh don't post that its stupid, they are sycophants they just tell him hes brilliant whenever he tweets.
