I have tried but failed...

.....to build a PCGS only registry set of Standing Liberty Quarters (One Per Date). I got almost half way done and I fell off the PCGS wagon....Yup, I have upset the apple cart... :D

But, but, but, I just HAD to buy this NGC 1920 MS 65!! It's not a FH designation but it looks pretty close to me. I love what looks to be original toning. Even better still...it is in an NGC #3 (My favorite slab from ATS!) and our good friend Mr. Albanese has blessed it....and YES, although not mandatory, that is still a nice bonus to me. o:) I paid retail plus for it but I doubt that I'll ever see another. The date looks a tad weak to me, which occurs from time to time with this series, as I understand it. I am, however, still learning about the SLQ series.

Thoughts? Comments? Opinions? Questions? Insults? (LOL) ;) Please feel free. :) Seriously, I’d like your honesty. Thanks!!

P.S. Maybe I'll buy a duplicate 1920, in PCGS MS 64 FH, just so that I can 'finish' my PCGS set. Having two great 1920 P SLQs wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. ;)

Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

great looking SLQ! I love the originality. Most coins in Gen 3 or older NGC holders look better than most in the same grade than other holders imho. Great score. I think it will fit your set well!

Pearly appearance! I think it’s attractive.

great coin and the holder is a nice bonus too, I love the series but have never studied it enough to be able to comment on them. I will say that the non FH designation looks correct, congrats on a really nice pick up.

It would be nice to stick to you original goal of only PCGS examples. AND to pick up an example here and there from ACTS is not blasphemy or betrayal of your original vow. In fact it allows you some freedom to add very nice specimens along the way to a complete Registry Set.

Do you have a minimum grade included in your initial plan? All FH? The 1920 in PCGS MS 64 FH you mention seems like a great addition to the set.

Good luck on your search for additions to your Registry Set.

What a coin, interesting how weak the date is. Is there a place where you can build a combined pcgs/ngc set registry?

Thanks, I truly appreciate your input. I am trying for MS 63-MS 65. I will pick full heads, when the price difference is not astronomical....For example: 1919-D and 1926-D (no way) and 1917 (P/D/S) Type 1 (yes). I am still likely going to finish the PCGS set. I could always get a PCGS 1920 D or S.

I like it and am in the processes of making a NGC only set, LOL. I think that coin is great! My eyes tend to jump to the shield so I like full rivets more than FH. Let me know if you get tired of it and Ill give it a good home!

I believe that both PCGS and NGC have custom sets which can display coins from the other service, sadly about a couple of years ago NGC stopped allowing PCGS coins into the competitive registry. I understand the reasoning and all (PCGS has never allowed any other brand in their competitive registry) but it was a really nice feature. Unfortunately too many sets listed on the NGC registry ended up being entirely PCGS graded which is certainly not great and the ability was taken away.

That is a really nice SLQ....and if it fits with the rest of your set, it will be a really great set. Good luck as you continue...Cheers, RickO

I love the coin... it's interesting to see the strong strike on the rivets and half the 1 in the date is "imaginary".
