Masking tape is better than duct tape, which is how I received a roll of Indian cents one time, each one pressed firmly

    Peel carefully, it's probably fine

Remove carefully and consider (depending on what is underneath) an acetone rinse to clear residue. Cheers, RickO

Agree with @Realone the tape is what is used for the trim and other areas you do not want to paint. Usually comes of neatly, cleanly, and little to no residue... but that is on a wall.

But it’s the metal of the medal so it should be an even easier removal.

    Best of luck @Bodin!

Let us know how it goes.

I'm sure you already know this but if there is tape residue on the medal and you use acetone to remove it, be careful to not get any acetone on the ribbon.

Once I received a roll of Walking Liberty half dollars placed individually in a grid pattern, COVERED IN PACKING TAPE, by a woman who sold them to me.

Not sure what those coins look like anymore. Probably toned or ruined.

All very interesting, but no explanation as to.......anything. I'm I missing something?

On a few occasions I have bought an uncommon and delicate item and when I asked for it to be wrapped a specific way I have sometimes gotten a bit of attitude from the sellers who know how to wrap. In other cases I have gotten coins taped to cardboard with packing tape. :/

    Some people are truly clueless.

Somewhat related - one of the early lessons I was given by a mentor -- and which took me several bad results to fully learn -- was to be careful and put as much time into opening a package as you do in preparing a package for delivery.

WHAT???? How careless. OMG that is ridiculous. The edges of the tape aren't even and when you are going to paint over something, you place the painters tape in a neat line along the edge.
Seriously though, I hope it comes off cleanly.

Ouch! Hopefully there won't be any long term side effects from the tape residue, but as others have said... acetone should work.

At least they didn't just throw it in an envelope loose. Hope the tape didn't leave any lasting residue.
