Grading coins using the letters in "Liberty." Third try better be the charm!

Many of us use the number of letters that are visible in "Liberty" that appear on many coin series to help determine its grade. I believe this is especially true with the Seated Liberty denominations. I'm interested in what you think. I have posted JUST the shield on a Seated Liberty dollar. Please take a look and post your opinion of its grade range using just the letters remaining in "Liberty." Assume this coin was fully struck so please pick a range from the poll answers. No need for comments like "show the entire coin" or "coins are not graded by Liberty," etc. There may be special recognition due for some of you but the poll is anonymous. I will post my opinion later. Thanks for all replies.

Grand Reopening!
So after i voted from my head, i thought lets check pcgs photograde and see how i did.
Do the same!
Ps, i think im right, curious to see this thread develop.
It is interesting though that if that were a quarter instead of a dollar, PCGS photograde would suggest a lower grade. Is the overall topography different on quarters vs. dollars?

This should be interesting.... never tried grading a coin just from one feature....We normally would use several particulars as well as overall appearance....Oh well... let's see what happens...Cheers, RickO
From Making the Grade: "Shield is more defined and at least four letters in LIBERTY are readable." Grade, F-15. In the photo above, LI...TY clearly visible.
An F-12, shied outline complete all letters weak or incomplete. VF-20, Horizontal lines on shield, may be weak all letters clear but may be weak.
This book is my go to for precise grading- matches PCGS and NGC exactly. A must have for any one serious about grading.
I'm at VG10 just by what is shown.
What's with the shield? It looks like someone carved the outline to make it stand out more.
They sure did. Good eye.

Hmmm...a trick question?

BINGO! The shifty SOB who posted this image applauds your good eye for detail! Now that this has been revealed, I hope we can continue the exercise.
This is an excellent post:

I hope we get more like it.
Not that it matters because damage is damage.
What would you put on the tag if you were the grader at a TPG?
Graffiti , Outlined Details or Altered Surfaces?
Are they all the same or does each term have its own meaning?
"Re-engraved details" is typically considered a subset of "tooling"

The VG to Fine answer is the best. I'll post more on this over the weekend and then I'll start another poll Monday with the "Liberty" on a different coin.
Oh man, how did I not see that? it sticks out like a sore thumb!

We don't even want to think about how many missed that alteration over the decades! A major dealer owns this one. Don't tell anyone but I'll bet it was rejected by PCGS or NGC before it was sent to us. You'd think these folks would know better. Wink.
VG-10 is my thinking.
The shield re cut did catch my eye.
This has got me thinking about LIBERTY as an ‘inny’ vs- an ‘outty’.....you’d think the incuse LIBERTY would wear down more slowly. But in the two series I can think of where it’s raised, it seems that the grading is relatively comparable to the incuse-lettered series.
Hmmm, other than striking issues on seated dollars I have always graded 20 cent pieces a grade higher where the amount of liberty visible maters!
Yes, I pondered that.... I was once told my ‘old school’ VF full LIBERTY 20 center is now probably an XF, but didn’t know if that was generally accepted or just someone’s personal gradeflation. Like VF IHC’s without a full LIBERTY in tpg holders....would Rick Snow consider these VF?
