My first large cent-1816 (ex Tom Reynolds)

I just received the large cent that I won in the Goldberg auction. It’s the first time that I bought a large cent. I’m particularly interested in the Randall hoard coins due to their color, level of preservation and back story.
Tom Reynolds previously owned the coin. Did I choose well?

I think you made an excellent choice and I too consider the various Randall Hoard dates quite appealing! Congratulations.

    Kind regards,

    Great coin and great photo!.

You don't see many of the 1816's around....seems to be more elusive than the other Randall hoard coins.

Very nice, 1816 is a great year for this series, since it's the first. Mine looks very similar to yours, but it's a 58+ (still the only one for this date).

I am a bit dismayed that your first Large Cent is far nicer than any of the 100+ that I have collected over the years!

Truly an awesome start to your collection!

That is a very nice large cent... and the re-punched N is a special attraction. Great detail and condition. Cheers, RickO

The date font is great and that repunched N is even better. Peace Roy
