What coin would you buy?

If you had 15k just lying around collecting dust and could buy only one coin what would you buy. Need to spend as close to 15k as you can on just one coin.

An XF 16/16 5c.
1794 half dime in low MS grade.
Go for three 5k coins instead.
I'm not sure......…….
A lower grade 1861-D $5
Aaaah, too many to choose from......I could never pull the trigger and would just put it in Apple.
bob
Proof gold.
Hopefully it’s more 15k sitting in a great stock but you're just more interested in the coins or want to do some profit taking!
As for mine. I have to buy it before posting about it
1911-D $2.50 Gold Quarter Eagle PCGS MS64
This
Best place to buy !

15,000.00 ...? Coins would be the last on the list.
I think it would start a structure for an answer to the question.
After the things that are on the top are checked off
and out of my every day thoughts. After that full steam ahead !
Can an 1848 'Cal' be had for that money?
Always wanted one......
I would likely not buy just one coin....Probably fly to a big coin show, then buy a couple of coins that caught my attention - and held it. Cheers, RickO
Working on type. Best 1793 1/2c I could find.
A very nice 1901-S Barber Quarter! Even with that much cash, probably would still grade Fine!
I would probably get a 1796 quarter. For $15,000, you could likely get a nice VG example.
As a side note, I always love reading the responses to this sort of thread because it’s neat to see what others like to collect!
Either a 1793 chain large cent or an 1848 CAL Quarter Eagle.
I would use that $15k, plus a little more, and buy an AU58 High Relief Saint.
The stoopid 1964 sms Nickel.

You don't need to spend $15K on the 1964 SMS coins. Just find them coin roll hunting like the "Get Rich From Pocket Change" YouTube videos say
A rare date Liberty Seated Dollar
I wouldn't want a single coin that cost $15K.
I'll make my money on "rare" corroded and damaged "errors" and "varieties" I pull out of Coinstar machine reject slots!
An AU version of this
Successful transactions with : MICHAELDIXON, Manorcourtman, Bochiman, bolivarshagnasty, AUandAG, onlyroosies, chumley, Weiss, jdimmick, BAJJERFAN, gene1978, TJM965, Smittys, GRANDAM, JTHawaii, mainejoe, softparade, derryb
Bad transactions with : nobody to date
1953 S Franklin MS64FBL.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
Probably a Chain Cent
Collector of randomness. Photographer at PCGS. Lover of Harry Potter.
I’ve always wanted a 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter.
EAC 6024
a nice $20 liberty gold piece in super nice shape
An early US gold type coin.
How about five truly unique coins for 15K .......
I know someone ........
Other combinations are available
This month, probably 1895-O 10c and settle for MS63. Next month, who knows. But I would never spend 15k on a single coin unless it was a Brewster's Millions situation.
An XF Chain Cent, an 1848-CAL $2.50, a Brasher Doubloon, and a 1962 proof set. That should use up most of the 15K.
I don't live in that neighborhood and don't have any candidates because I never think about it... but I could readily think of several (5 to 8) less expensive widgets that would total up to $15,000.
Either an '01 S Barber quarter, or '16 Liberty Standing quarter or a chain cent.
Mint State CC $20 Gold is a good choice. Plenty of dates to choose.
This would tempt me:

I was thinking about this because i was watching a local auction and saw a guy buy a proof morgan for 36k. I was thinking if only i could.
A Chain Cent in F12-15.
Good luck to @topstuf finding one in XF for $15k...
Smitten with DBLCs.
A 10 ounce gold coin?
Or, if I have to choose a real coin I guess an 1827 O148 might do.
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
The nicest 1955/1955 Doubled die cent I could find.
A dealer in Greenville, SC has (had?) one PCGS AU55 for $11,000.
A $5 Indian in 66 or a nice 1880's CC $5 in AU
There's a '07 High Relief Wire Rim Saint on page 2 of the BST that could be great to own.
I would rather have 3 at 5k
No, no, no, no, that's not the way you do it! The trick is to wait for something special to come up and then buy it. No telling what it will be until it turns up.

I know exactly what I want and that is a 1911-S $10 gold Indian PCGS MS64+ with a natural old gold look, nice luster, and no distracting hits on the Indian princess profile... Been looking for several years.

This one listed on the Heritage Auctions site. Not quite 15K, but close enough.
1857-S Central America $20 gold in MS-63 or 64.
Is a 1895-O Barber Dime really worth the money? Consider the top four key dates:
Date Pop 63 $ Pop 64 $
1895-0 10 $12,000 8+1 $19,000
1894-0 07 $3,000 11+1 $6,000
1899-0 10 $1,100 11+2 $2,150
1901-S 10 $950 13 $2,650
Lafayette Grading Set
1799 $10 in pcgs 40
