1989 penny with weird die mark

I looked closely at this one cause 1989 looked different. A closer look under the scope there is a clear " SCV" stamp on the rim of his jacket at the bottom. Can't see it in the picture but has anyone heard of this?

Thanks

    Welcome to the forum @SeaBas.

Suspect Brenner’s initials VDB took several post mint hits or could be a grease filled die, or polishing, or... Would be great if you can provide a clear close-up pic.

    CoinFacts, note placement of VDB:

Your photo is simply oriented backwards, for whatever reason. Straighten the photo around and it reads properly.

Check another penny you will see it on that one too. VDB

    All of them since 1918.

Huh, the blurb at the bottom is only on the page for BN....

    "Jaime Hernandez:
The 1918-P Lincoln cent is very well struck for the most part.

This is also the first year after 1909 in which Victor David Brenner's initials re-appeared on the Lincoln cent. However, this time they placed the V.D.B. initials on the obverse of the coin instead of the reverse. From 1918 to 2009 the V.D.B. initials are located on Lincolns shoulder."

V.D.B is what I see and your pic is mirrored.

As mentioned earlier, get the Red Book. It’ll have answered the question and then there is Goog, but anything from a web search should be validated from other sources. A lot of “get-me-rich-on-this-‘penny’-start-searching” hype is everywhere.

Here it is flipped around, so you can read the V.D.B.
