Skulls, Crossbones,Zombies and other scary stuff...why?

HallcoHallco Posts: 3,721 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm venturing into the area of art bars and hand poured silver and can't help but notice many themed with darker, macabre, death related items. Is there a specific reason why this is popular among collectors in this area?

They were made for the apocalypse.

    Maybe it seems pirate-y.

I've noticed many stackers are also the doomsday types. Interests pertain to the dark end of the world kind of stuff. Sounds like the manufacturers of the items you mention are marketed towards that crowd.

It does appeal to a certain crowd, if it helps them open their wallets I'll carry it for retail sales. Just like Disney Princess coins and silver bullets.

There are also a plethora of "pretty girl" bullion items.

Dudes like to have something to look at while their money sits there in metallic form...

Or, on the case of the silver shaped like bullets, or Lincoln logs, or dice, etc.. play with

Novelty only. Too large of a premium for serious stacking, although I dipped my toe into the politically-themed SBSS series awhile back. I'd prefer tastefully-done nudes as Baley might suggest, if I were going to collect.

I have seen silver bars with nudes on them....and some rounds.... Never saw any x-rated stuff...but then, I have not done a search..and not likely to since I prefer ASE's. I do have novelty bars... I think I posted my Secretariat bar in the past...a couple others..got a Mother's Day bar for wife and mother...Cheers, RickO

@massscrew....I believe it was from Scottsdale silver.... or may have been Silvertown.... I get the two confused... It was several years ago. I really like the shotgun shells...have not seen them before....Cheers, RickO

I also see a lot of pirate oriented stuff. I have never seen any of the "Pirates of the Caribbean " movies, but I see a couple of them are going to be on tv tonight. I might have to watch and get inspired! :D
