2018-Innovation dollar...only graded on proof side-why?

Are any of the grading services willing to grade both sides of the 2018 Innovation dollar? Just having a grade for the proof side doesn't make sense. In the 1980s both sides were graded independently by the ANACS.

I may have missed something.... Why do you think that the TPG's are only grading a 'proof' side? In fact, why do you think only one side is proof? A proof coin is just that...both sides.....and the grade assigned is for the total coin. Yes, ANACS once gave a grade to each side... but no longer. Cheers, RickO

I would say that if you want the whole coin (both sides) graded then just submit your coin and that's what you will get...a grade for THE coin

There are two 2018 AI introductory coins.

The first was madd as a PR and was released in December 2018. The second, released in August 2019 is made as a RP.

Why do you think TPG services grade only one side?

I don’t know if this is what the confusion with the original post is about, but the “reverse” in “reverse proof” doesn’t refer to the back of the coin. It refers to how the traditional frosted devices and reflective fields are “reversed” so that the fields are frosted and the devices are reflective.

    :o:s:/

I suspect that you are correct.

It is true that some TPGs graded the obverse and reverse independently in the early days, but that does not explain the proof-on-one-side misconception. :#

Nobody grades each side of the coin individually any more ( i.e. 65 /63 ) . Both sides are graded and the coin is assigned the grade for the lower graded side of the coin plus bumps for eye appeal, toning, etc.

Photos of the coin and the slab would help members figure out what you mean.

Is English your second language? He want's to know if anybody will grade both sides of an Innovation Dollar individually. The answer is NO!!!! They have not graded each side individually in at least 25years.

Quite obvious that the OP has no clue what a "reverse" proof is

There is more to his question than that....

He refers to "just the proof side".

Do not give the Mint any “new” ideas.

Please, no. PR die and another die type... on the same coin. :|
