Did PCGS give the early finder any prize for finding these two quarters?
Doesn't sound like they did.
Per Heather's linked press release, "PCGS is still offering a reward for the first 2019-W San Antonio quarter found in circulation on or after the official release date of August 26, 2019."
However, don't see the "on or after the official release date" in the contest rules.
Per the rules:
"The submitter of the first received and certified 2019-W quarter of each design will receive the above listed reward for that design via check."
"PCGS defines PCGS First Discovery as the first coin submitted to, and certified by, PCGS."
Shouldn't these two "accidental early releases" also be considered "first discovery?"
And shouldn't the "countdown clock" have been started for specialty labels for this issue?
Are they really this stupid, or are they destroying the dollar on purpose?
I had seen the listings and youtube video..
Was hoping this would be the way it turned out.
Should have placed them in the mail to PCGS morning of the 26th !!!
Saw the press release and the guy on YouTube. Don't like the "accidental" release call on these... the next coins coming in will be labeled as "first discovery" which they are clearly not. Those labels need an asterisk on them! This guy was clearly the first to submit, not his fault the bank got them early. And it's quite likely more than one person got them early... would be very unlikely this guy was the only in the country... or even the only from that bank to get them already.
Lucky for him he kept a few spares to sell. Can just send them to arrive Monday and get the first discovery as well as the accidental release coins as well as part (all?) of the prize.

Complete win for him.
He still may NOT gets the reward as per PCGS rules that these were submitted BEFORE the official release ( based on the postmark of the package).

He won't get the reward for this batch. He can still submit another couple (the ones he kept to sell) on Monday (on release date) that should be eligible.

please show in the rules where it says not eligible if submitted before the official release date.

Yes, it happens... Shouldn't have BUT did. He should have waited untill the offical release date to send off for the reward.
I think he has obviously something more rare than even first releases.
Besides even if he could resist sending them in early he risks being smoked.
I couldn't and wouldn't have waited, EVERYTHING else would've been in the backseat. Think about it...
Suspect that tomorrow or next day the official “first discovery” W Missions will be opened, graded, and press release by our host. Then the clock starts for “first week” and “early find” pedigrees.

Saw his Bay auctions for the Mission Ws but he has taken them down.

Official release date of the ATB Missions TX quarter is 26 Aug. Technically these pre-release Missions Quarters do not exist.
Whoever supplies the Wells Fargo in Grapevine made a “small” mistake in issuing these rolls of quarters. Wondering how often this has occurred.

What a great surprise....Interesting label too. Cheers, RickO

Very cool, and this guy deserves the award as first submitted. Not his fault they were accidentally released.

So they have not been "monetized"?
Well, just Love coins, period.
They were released early by mistake. Of course, they have to be minted and ready in quantity by the release date.
All that technical stuff should have been taken care of already.
