I find all different types can be attractive...

If mint state if the luster is great I'll probably love the coin regardless of the color or lack of color
Difficult question as each coin stands on it own merits. Gold is nice but brown can be distracting.
It really depends on the coin and the tone itself. There can be disagreements on any particular coin with different collectors.

Some of the most beautiful coins I’ve ever seen were deeply toned in gold and brown. No problems on my end.

Bright pastels I think are signs of someone playing. I can tolerate darker crusty colors but I don't seek to buy any of these coins.

For me I think it would depend on the coin.
While I find rainbow (at least 4 colors) most desirable, I've got attractive golden and white coins too. It's all about eye appeal.
Who made Ricko boss?
hehehehe
A coin must be attractive. Whether it's toned or lustrous white doesn't matter.
U.S. Type Set
Mint state coins - I prefer colorful or blast white coins. The in between gold/brown don’t do it for me.
Circulated coins - I prefer crusty brown or grey.
It doesn't have to be a rainbow for me to like it.
Golds, reds, caramels and russets can be beautiful.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

The issue for me is will color help sell the coin? If so it’s a plus. Otherwise prefer brilliant, untoned, PQ with super luster. A recent GC purchase of pretty much untoned PQ gems: Texas 50c and San Diego sold retail from my online store within a week after receiving.
From about 30 years on the bourse -Buyers prefer coins brilliant with nice luster untoned some attractive russet or gold lite toning may be ok. I can’t tell you how many times a looker has said “that coin is nice but I prefer coins brilliant with nice luster untoned.”
None of the above? I prefer originality. If that happens to be colorful toning, okay.

I prefer coins that look like how they left the mint, bright and shinny, however I don't dislike some color if its nice which may be a rainbow or a nice crusty gold brown. The part I do dislike is the extreme premiums that are charged, gouging is bad imo.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Brown on anything but copper is not usually considered an attractive color.
I thought i saw Ricko's pic on a Brillo box.
This type of toning still appeals to me, even though it isn't "colorful".
LOL, nice try.
There is a BIG difference between the iridescent brown "rainbow" you posted and a lump of brown silver crap. I'll bet brown dip residue stains appeal to some folks too.
If a coin is original, with attractive color, and is traceable to a cause for it's beauty then I personally find the coin attractive for all attributes, and very desirable for my taste.
Example- '58 mint set.
better??
Yes, much better! Still not brown when in bright light.
Think of unattractive, smelly cigar smoke toning. That's brown.
