Ever met someone so enthusiastic about coins that you'd become a collector if you weren't already?

Spent some time in Victoria BC this week.

While shopping on Fort Street, met Mike Tarantino at AAA Coin, Stamp and Jewelry.

In addition to running the shop, he makes Victoria related tokens from scratch all the way from plaster to finished product. They are limited edition and to prove it, they have events where he will offer the pieces and then publicly shatter the die. He had a consigned set and the gold piece with the "Seal of Victoria" was spectacular.

He and Daniel Carr would hit it off, I'm sure.

He was a real pleasure to chat with - if ever in Victoria, be sure to stop by and say hello!

And, to keep it US Coin Forum related, he does carry US coins as well. :D

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose, Cardinal.

I love talking to people that are passionate about ANY subject, whether I have great interest in their subject or not.
It's a great way to learn too !

It is great to meet people who are passionate about their avocation/hobby....Especially if they have years of experience. One can learn a lot in a short time....often find answers to obscure questions....I visited Victoria, BC some years ago....did not visit any coin shops... heavy party mode at the time. ;) Cheers, RickO

Took a class taught by Bill Fivaz at the ANA summer seminar years ago. Great ambassador for the hobby, "passionate" covers it. Also heard a talk by Ken Bressett, likewise. If you ever need to charge your numismatic batteries, attend.

Oh, sh-t, I was in Victoria just four weeks ago! I wish this was posted before I arrived there.

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!

My collecting “Pride & Joy” is my PCGS Registry Dansco 7070 Set:
