Never thought about it until now...

Well before I had a drivers license my Father never had an issue dropping me off at a coin show or a coin store for a few hours on the weekend. All these years I thought my parents had always just been very supportive of my hobby as a YN. Now thinking about it they just wanted me out of the house and that's why I have a sibling that's 15 years younger.

That is funny. And it sounds like there may be a lot of truth in it.
sounds like they were very "productive" with the time! ;-)

I don't think you should discredit their interest and encouragement of your collecting. It was real. Maybe you are over thinking it.

Encouragement is something that manifests itself in various forms... At least you parents were able to drive you... I rode my bike after completing my paper route.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I remember riding my bike to the nearest B&M when I was just 10 years old. I remember the year that he opened. He was an irascible character but, BOY, did I like to look at his stuff!! He just passed away a few years back and stayed in business, until the very end.
On a side note.....I have a friend whose aunt (his dad's sister) is the SAME AGE AS HIM. His mother and GRANDMOTHER were both pregnant at the SAME TIME!! LOL

I am sure YOU had something to do with where you wanted to be dropped off. You just did not know that dropping you off ANYWHERE, was their part of the plan. :-)
@Broadstruck .... Oh yeah... I clearly remember when my brother and I were chased out ('Go find your friends'), often on a Sunday afternoon....."Supper is at five".....was the admonishment. Sometimes rough on a cold winter day... but there was always something to do... Cheers, RickO
Ha!
Sometimes on Saturday, my parents would drop me/sisters/friends at the movie theater for the whole afternoon.
And judging by the number of unescorted children at the theater, I bet this was a common tactic in the 50's & 60's.

Guess this dashes to bits my old suspicion that my parents were not very religious 'cause they sent all us kids off the Sunday school without them.
See, you unknowingly helped their relationship last. Your brother needs to buy you a beer.
Question for the OP---Does your wife encourage you to go to coin shows?
