Ok but this is a 2005 Kansas quarter. What are the odds??. I’ve only heard of the Philadelphia Variety quarter. Until this one. But another mint with the same variety with the same Kansas quarter year. What are the odds. Have any other been known of???? Besides the Philadelphia ones.

A filled die is an error, not a variety. It can happen to any device on any coin. The IN GOD WE _RUST filled die error was hyped as something valuable, but in reality filled dies are one of the more common errors you'll come across. This just happens to be in an interesting place.

You may want to check ebay SOLD listings to get an idea if any of the original hype is still carrying over for any _RUST filled die coin. That will give you a better idea of value instead of the unsubstantiated claims in many of the "get rich from pocket change" sites Your coin is circulated and you can still make out a faint image in some of your pics so keep that in consideration

I know this is a filled die error. I sold Philadelphia In god we Rust quarter for 45 bucks on eBay. When I checked eBay yesterday I only seen Philadelphia In god we Rust quarters forsale. I’ve only seen Philadelphia ones. This is a Denver mint In god we Rust quarter. This is the first I’ve seen a Denver with this error or heard of. I’m woundering if any one else seen this error with Denver mint.

I have not seen one but why would Denver coins not exist? Filled dies are random occurrances and they use grease at the Denver mint, too. ;)

I’m not saying it would not exist. I’m just saying with all the quarters out there. Yes it can happen on any coin. I’ve seen a lot of coins with filled grease die. I’m trying to say that Denver has the same error as the Philadelphia. Both different mints. What are the odds of that happening. Same statehood quarter. Same year. Yes I’m just trying to let everyone here know that a same one particular error doesn’t happen on one particular mint. As for like I’ve seen errors and varieties that are known on one particular mint. Just example has a 2004 P Wisconsin quarter extra leaf come up yet. Or any other variety or error come up on the other mint. Or a 1937P 3 legged buffalo nickel. But now there are 2005 D In god we Rust quarter. Wow that’s freaky cool.

You keep mixing errors with die varieties. A die variety is an anomaly on one specific die.

Similar errors can and do happen all the time at all.the mints. If you find it interesting that you found two Kansas "rust" quartets then that's great. It is a coincidence, maybe even an unusual one, but nothing that is unheard of.

You're missing a little something. The WI extra leaf and the 3legged buffalo are varieties. The anomaly is specific to the die as it was made or refurbished. Doubled dies are also varieties. All the coins minted from that die will look similar. if the die for a Kansas quarter was missing the letter, then you would really have something

Filled dies are errors. Grease and other debris can randomly fill ANY part of the die. It may last a few strikes or many strikes. The debris can get dislodged or further compacted resulting in more detail being being present.

Generally, minor filled die errors rarely get a premium. Apparently the RUST coins were hyped and people (most likely new collectors) think these are valuable. If someone is paying $45 for them, then I would be selling everything I had.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade, just trying to point out the difference between varieties that are collected by specialists and inter eating minor errors that have been hyped by the get rich from pocket change group. I do hope that you make some money on it

I understand varieties and errors. I know it is an error. It’s just cool that Denver has the same error. Neat. The quarter I sold had 4 errors.

It would be awesome if Philadelphia had the same extra leaf variety.

You are right. Not unheard of. I seen a California State hood quarter with the same error. The quarter I came across is a keeper. Thank you for the feedback. It all helps a lot. Plus it helps me what to say and not to say. And say it properly. I enjoy this forum.
