Grading and valuation of 1794 US one cent

Hi all,
I wonder if you would be able to help my father with the grading and potential valuation of his coin? It’s a 1794 Liberty cap large cent. Pics attached.
Thanks.

Welcome to the CU forum @bpollard.

Use the highest clear non-blurry resolution your camera/phone. If the pics are blurry it is almost as bad as no pics... almost.
Additionally, you should crop pics of the coin. Example:
@bpollard.....Welcome aboard.... as above, pictures with more resolution will help... I am sure you will get some very helpful advice here as members review your coin.... Cheers, RickO
Sheldon-22, R-1, Bent 6th lock obverse. Value will depend on grade. VF 20 to 30 sharpness but it may not straight grade. Go to Coinfacts under 1794 Head of 1794 to check out potential values.

Certainly well above average than the typical '94 Lib Cap found in a non-specialists' holdings.
Like BigMoose said, VF+ detail, looks to be some light environmental damage. I've seen worse get straight grades, so it has a shot, but don't expect full problem free value, as most buyers would mentally net it down a bit for the surfaces, whether it's straight graded or not.
That said, it still looks like a nice example, and I like it.
I agree with above, I look at collections all the time, that don't have an early large cent that is even half that nice. VF+ details, but as others said may possibly straight grade although both firms are as tight as ever currently.
Nice example.
Thank you all. Have attached new pictures. What do you recommend we do next? Is it best to get an official grading before deciding whether to keep/sell?

Very nice with the focused pics.
Fingerprints on the obverse/reverse are distracting and can/does reduce the premium for coins. Hold by the edges.
