What might this P$ in lucite have been dipped in?

It looks like gold leaf or gold aluminum foil. Its fully prooflike. But the edges dont look like it got dipped?

My guess is that it was polished in preparation for entombment.
Treatment by paint or “leaf” may have been added (obverse and reverse) while it was being held in an album or something similar since the edge doesn’t show the “treatment.”
Or something...
Its hard to grab the color with an iphone but its bright gold color.
Heavily polished, thankfully not a better date.
Could it be an electroplate job without the edge getting coated?

put it in the freezer overnight and then smack it with a hammer or throw it on the concrete floor. Pat, it isn't like your going to hurt the coin, it's like a $17 coin.
Blow torch will also melt it out. Be careful of the dangerous, lung-damaging fumes though.
A vise works wonders.

your coin, my coin, his coin, it really makes no difference. the coin itself freed from the lucite is worth maybe $17 or a little more as a polished and damaged POS. the reason I tell Pat what I told him is because he has or will have a similar coin at some time and want to free it.
The lucite adds tremendous value. Much more functionality now. Its a higher floor investment than just plain silver coins in the raw. Its a weapon, a paper weights, a decor, et cetera
I've seen ones like that before- whole coin is fake, nothing but paste inside a foil wrapper when broken out!

Why do you want it out of the lucite @ACop? It is very neat the way it is or better yet I'll swap
Well if youre throwing in an Americana fine...:D I like it in the lucite also. I bought it that way as a cool paperweight. But was always curious why it was gold. I think electroplating or completely fake is the answer though.
It's a novelty worth keeping @ACop and I think they electroplate it .... well oxygen won't be a factor.

I'm thinking maybe too much catalyst was used to cure the lucite. The more catalyst used the faster it cures but the hotter it gets. Pretty sure heat could do that.

I don't think it's fake it's a real silver dollar that was buffed on a polishing wheel then plated.
Banks used to give you the option between those, a can opener, or a toaster when you opened a savings account.
These are mine. They were my Grandfathers. He was a bank president for years. All of the coins are dated in the mid 1960's. I also have a matching stapler at home.
Here's one I made a long long time ago. Color is way off in photo.
Had to pour the lucite in levels to space the coins.
