i understand now about cleaning. have seen those comments more than any other about collecting over the last couple months. wish i had before i spiffed up my 1907. used Never Dull on it. won't do it again promise
That Indian cent is not the worst (best?) cleaning job I have seen. The circulation gunk is still in the protected areas so I wonder if you carried it around in your pocket for a time if the surface would wear down past the cleaning?
There have been discussions/debates over the years if it is possible to "wear down" a cleaned coin so that it no longer is "cleaned".
I think sometimes the damage can never be undone, but yours does not look too far gone. But I am no expert on the process. I guess you can mimic circulation and see what happens (handling, carrying in your pocket with other coins, etc.).

In Tennessee it's "nickle" especially if you live near one of those whiskey storage buildings - fumes.

i was wondering the same. how do I right this wrong? only time can do it.
