1859 Indian NEWP: GTG Anyone?

TommyTypeTommyType Posts: 4,586 ✭✭✭✭✭

Seems to be a slow few days on the boards, and I don't have any parking lot change to cheer you up with. ;)

So, how about a GTG on my latest addition?

(Sellers pics).

If that nice luster trumps those little marks, then 64 is my guess.

I'll post the "real" grade in a couple of hours. (Will be unavailable tomorrow for most of the day).

Grading Ethics Question: Is it acceptable to use the purchasing history, wallet size, and cheap-@$$ nature of the buyer as part of your GTG calculations? (That's a hint). :)

A few of you hit the nail on the head:

I WAS looking for a good looking AU-55/58, but found that they are few and far between. So I opened up the possibility of a 62, (be it a market graded 58, or 62 legit). Found this one at a really nice price, and jumped on it. Appreciate that so many thought it was a good looking, well struck piece, which is what I thought when I stumbled on it.

I had a moment of pause looking at the one black spot on the lower wreath...and some black smudge next to the "T" in CENT, but looking at it in hand, it sure just looks like a bit of dirt rather than something eating at the coin. Guess time will tell!

    Thanks for playing....

I recently sold a 62 and upgraded, would have kept it if it looked that nice.

Yeah....I'm on my THIRD 1859 cent for my type set now. Had a blah AU-50 that I upgraded to an ugly AU-58 that I upgraded to this rather attractive, if I do say so myself MS-62. I think I'm done now. Any higher, and I'm outside my $$ comfort zone. :)

I mistakenly thought you had a larger wallet. ;) I really like the look and way over guessed my grade.
