*** CONTEST NOW CLOSED. ***

@btcollects won the random drawing.

If you didn't win this one, lament not! The August giveaway is now up and running. :)

Hi.

I was recently on the end of a very lopsided and generous deal whereby a kind stranger knowingly sold me what is essentially a $500+ coin for the princely sum of one dollar.

So I've got some "paying it forward" to do.

The prize here is just a modest bauble, but hey, it's old gold.

Winner of the drawing at the end of the month will get one of these cute little gold fanams from Southern India, circa 1700-1830. They are extremely tiny, but that kind of adds to their appeal, in a weird way.

As with my regular monthly giveaways, all you need to do is post the words "entry post" in your initial post to this thread, and only your initial post. Reply as many times as you like, but if you put the phrase "entry post" into more than one post, you will disqualify yourself.

Winning entry post will be selected by random number generator on or shortly after July 31, 2019.

Good luck, and thanks again to my benefactor.

BTW, there is a parallel giveaway on CoinTalk, and I'm giving away two fanams (one on each site), so if you have membership over there, you may enter the CT giveaway to double your chances.

I believe the design is supposed to represent the goddess Kali somehow.

(Possibly upside-down in the coin photos above.)

She's just some circles and shapes on these coins, but quite a bit fiercer looking in other representations!

When you have four arms and one or more of those arms holds slashing blades, then you wear whatever you darn well please, and nobody has anything to say except "Yes, ma'am!".

Hopefully those blind dates are actually blindfolded, so she doesn't frighten them off.

I would also imagine you'd need some pretty nice perfume to mask the scent of blood.

I have forgotten, but I'll bet if you showed the coin or described it, I'd remember.

1861 dime, bit of color with an L or and i on the reverse, close enough to a L for me :)

I requested a bezel and you gave it to me for free, very cool and much appreciated.

Your packaging impressed me also and lead me to incorporate a similar style to my own, which have been well received across the globe.

There are some similar coins, tiny Indian gold, that are supposed to have a tiny crocodile on it. I have one example, that I figure is almost surely a modern repro. Your token is awesome!
