Graded a solid MS63. Thoughts on value? Planning on submitting to CAC next.

a beauty, weak strike reverse breast feathers (common on New Orleans minted dollars) but don't see this as a grade killer. nice toning on such a great error coin! I would have graded it higher by a point from what I see in the pics. it could go for super crazy money in an auction. thanks for sharing.
The timing may be right to cash out on a coin like this.

I'd put it in the 7500 -10k range, love the look of the obverse, the reverse not so much....you should be able to negotiate to getting 105% with one of the bigger auction houses even if a one off consignment, think that would be a better option than ebay as far as maximizing value
Looks like the terminal die stage with the crack into the hair and the break at the nose VAM-1B-H10, very nice.
I'd settle for 800 ounces of silver.

To be honest, I paid next to nothing. I had it in my collection and spent many years angry at the person that "scratched" such a coin....only recently checked to see if it was an error. Never got into VAMS
Taking it on pawnstars in August. Should give it some good exposure.
As someone who's been on PS, that ship sailed long ago. Exposure is relegated mainly to octogenarians now. The Antiques Roadshow demographic mainly.

don't worry, octogenarians still buy coins if that's the only audience pawn stars gets these days. that should be a fun experience for you. they'll pull in a pcgs expert to spot grade it and value it for you. great story that it went undiscovered as an ultimate VAM for so long in your collection. I'm not an octogenarian but I'll be looking forward to that episode. good luck.

This one will probably do better with specialists at Heritage or Legend rather the the GenPop who watch TV, but if your going there, please PM me, I've got a goodie that would be fun to present to the octos.
I would consider Heritage or Stacks-Bowers if you can get a decent rate (unlikely if this is your only coin to consign - the consignment minimum is $5k so the consignment would be considered small value). I would consider eBay or even Great Collections. Be sure to send it to CAC before consigning it. Good luck!
This is a mainstream variety, so it's not as important to make sure a niche audience is being targeted, although doing so certainly won't hurt.
