From Dan's first year 2009 Moonlight Mint Open House (MMOH), an in-collar double strike on clad Eisenhower Dollar. Obverse shown here. You never now exactly what interesting items you will find on ebay.

Yes, fortunately I did and it was without knowing about the double strike until I received it. Two thumbs up!

Nice piece (and pics). These were supposedly "over-strikes", not double-struck. You can still see some of the ghost image of the "host" coin under the over-strike, common and cool on these. However, there appears to be two images of DC's logo in the lower left. which is interesting. Can you tell what the original host coin was? He struck these on various Ikes, ASEs, Sac & Pres $ coins. How about a reverse shot?

It looks like it was over-struck on a 1972 Eisenhower Dollar.
It appears there were two over-strikes with a little bit of rotation in between (that was done occasionally if the first over-strike was not strong enough).

    PS:
2009 was the first year for an "Open House" issue. I only had a few days to design, sculpt, and engrave the die. So that is why it is somewhat crude in that regard. It was supposed to me a morphing of a Morgan dollar and Peace dollar design (half way between the two).

Thank you Mr. Dan for the clarification! I figured there was some "artistic liberty" taken with these -- as it should be. Just goes to show you gotta look carefully at each DCarr piece as there are often "anomalies" that can be of interest. :)
