How collectors can submit coins & medals to PCGS.

There seem to be several newer message board members. They might be interested in suggestions about how to submit items to PCGS from experienced members.
Just a thought.

Submitting items for grading is easy.
Step 1) Join the PCGS Collectors Club at the level of your choice
https://www.pcgs.com/join
Step 2) Send in your coins in accordance with the following instructions:

Or in lieu of the above, take your items to a PCGS Authorized Dealer and have them submit for you:

@Staircoins....That sums it up nicely.....

I was hoping experienced members would offer tips to newer collectors about selecting coins to send ('show stoppers' potential problems, etc.), convenient quantities, shipping and insurance, realistic door-to-door turnaround time. The subtleties that aren't in the basic rules for submitting coins and medals.
What cons to submit varies with the individual. Some want to send in grandpa's heirloom, while others want to submit rolls for bulk. The amount of turnaround time varies as well. Some have report quick return times of less than a week, while others have reported months, almost a year. It really depends on the individuals desires.

Good to know many thanks
Generally if you have to ask if a coin is worth sending in, it probably isn't. "Worth", however, varies from person to person.
I'll add that the online submission center here is much simpler and more streamlined than ATS.
Collector, occasional seller
I would generally recommend that newer people avoid sending stuff in until they get more knowledgeable and settled into the hobby. I'd recommend watching the PCGS webinar videos and reading a grading book before even considering it. If you inherited a collection that you want to liquidate, you are better off recruiting a professional or knowledgeable mentor to coach you through things.

Good thread. I have a few questions:
How are counter stamped coins submitted, and graded by PCGS?
How are varieties (i.e.. Overton) with Mint made errors submitted, and graded by PCGS?
What are options for variety designation, with upgrade potential?
If a coin upgrades in PCGS holder, and the value goes from 5k to 10k, what is the PCGS fee?
