Wow!
Amazing no accidents?
Well no accidents that were shown.
Wow... We read about such things from time to time... and then dream about being in the right place at the right time...Unlikely... but that would be what these motorists thought... Until it happened.... Cheers, RickO
How did I miss that one?
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
The story sounds kind of odd.
The story says a side door was blown open.
Even so, Is loose money just sitting there in the back of the truck, unbundled and unbagged???
I wonder honestly how they could round up all the money from everybody stopping and grabbing some
They said on the news they had everyone's tag number and if the money is not returned they will get you!
I am also puzzled how an armored truck can barf out paper money like that!

Collect 10 Grand turn in $33
All sorts of problems here, but having tag numbers doesn't mean anything. Right or wrong, those who picked up cash are presumed Innocent until proven guilty. I very much doubt they had a record of the serial numbers of the lost bills.
Crazy!

INDIANAPOLIS -- State police say drivers clamored to pick up cash on an interstate in Indianapolis after the back doors of a Brinks armored truck swung open and hundreds of thousands of dollars flew out. Troopers at the scene initially said up to $600,000 had flown across the interstate, but police later said the exact amount was not known, CBS affiliate WTTV reports.

Seems like I always miss out on the fun🙁
OK smarty pants, here's one involving a truck full of dimes
ten grand plus $100. why spend your time turning in $33 for free errr plus the ten grand right?
Happened in between my place and my brothers condo. Not the first time on 285 either, happened a year or 2 ago as well here.
If the authorities have images of the license plates, they presumably also have photos of the people getting out of those vehicles and grabbing the cash. It is clear that the money was from the truck and not abandoned. It sounds like a series of pretty easy cases to me.
So, as was said, give 'em back $50 and keep the rest. It's easy to accuse people but much harder to meet the burden of proof required by law....... reasonable doubt and all that. This is a key feature of our justice system that is designed to put the burden of proof on the accuser.
I'm not condoning keeping it, and anything they picked up certainly doesn't belong to them, but just because the cops say they're going to go after people who stopped doesn't mean they're actually going to waste any time trying. They know they can't get convictions. They're just nicely encouraging people to do the right thing. I bet many will and many won't.
Just saw on Facebook page of a local weatherman in Atlanta that several people have turned it in. A couple of big folded stacks and what looks likes a gallon bag stuffed.
The news here this morning said the county police have all of the license plates they could get from traffic cameras. Folks will be charged if they don't return the money so they say. One guy interviewed returned about $2500 - actually that guy in the red shirt in the pic above.
