    I don't know about the variety markers for this series, but it appears that someone attempted to make a naughty word by altering the E in CENT.

    I think here it means miss attributed or unattributed. Nice pick up... and good eye! I'm not certain the rarity value, but I believe the finest known is xf40...

    did you find it slabbed or had it slabbed? share the label.

    looks like it spent some time in the ground, but someone did a good job removing a lot of the dirt without damaging it.

    I’ve generally seen “in the wild” referred to as when a raw coin is cherried, either as a variety, a tough date, or one that slabs as a high grade.

    Regardless, finding an R7 large cent unattributed is a major score!

    I have one of the altered cents as well... also sent to me by a forum member ....never checked if it was also a variety. Cheers, RickO
