I don't know about the variety markers for this series, but it appears that someone attempted to make a naughty word by altering the E in CENT.
I have one of those "altered" cents. Someone here sent it to me.
In the "wild" generally means in circulation.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
I think here it means miss attributed or unattributed. Nice pick up... and good eye! I'm not certain the rarity value, but I believe the finest known is xf40...
did you find it slabbed or had it slabbed? share the label.
looks like it spent some time in the ground, but someone did a good job removing a lot of the dirt without damaging it.
I’ve generally seen “in the wild” referred to as when a raw coin is cherried, either as a variety, a tough date, or one that slabs as a high grade.
Regardless, finding an R7 large cent unattributed is a major score!
Yeah... R7...
@coin22lover, you never fail to impress.
I know the effort is not trivial. Lance.
I have one of the altered cents as well... also sent to me by a forum member ....never checked if it was also a variety. Cheers, RickO
