Just got an order back as well, and was surprised to see the new box--very nice, looks better than the old blue ones.

I have an order waiting at the post office for me. We'll see today if EVERYONE gets the new black, or if they are reserved only for you "special people". ;)

We will be running through the remainder of our blue boxes, then all submissions will be returned in the new black (which I fondly refer to as stealth) boxes!

They will also be available in the store for $7.25 or $4.50 for collectors club members :) (note, ordering now could still result in a blue box until stock runs out). Store link: https://www.pcgs.com/store/p-20-pcgs-plastic-storage-box.aspx

We are all glad you guys like them! It was time to shake things up.

I will be ordering several a few months from now to get the black ones. It's a good improvement over the blue boxes IMO.

They're not like the NGC translucent black boxes.

These new PCGS Blacks are made of the same plastic
as the green and blue boxes, but the finish is 'matte'
or dull, and not shiny like the old ones.

That's the only difference I can see .

They do hold NGC coins, but so did the old ones.

FredWeinberg: Will the thicker HOF and 50 year moon landing commems fit without forcing them in? Wher I have found that these go in fairly easy, they are tough to remove.

I have a couple of the new black boxes. I tried the HOF and 50th, and some slots they fit nicely and some they don't. I'd say they're the exact same fit as the blue.

I guess I am in the minority on the new black box. Not only do the not hold NGC graded coins, they don't hold many older PCGS slabs!!! A PCGS box that doesn't hold PCGS graded coins... doesn't make sense to me. I will keep the old blue boxes... they hold all PCGS coins.

I haven't noticed any PCGS coins not fitting. If you are talking about the ones with the taller stacking tabs not fitting in the end slot just turn the last one around. That was a problem with the blue boxes as well, not sure if it still is with these.

My friend gave me one of the new black boxes, it came with a submission returned. The new slabs fit just fine in mine...

New submissions fit fine... some of the older PCGS holders don't fit. Tried more this afternoon. Tom, I agree but the coin not the box but I would like to be able to carry PCGS coins in a PCGS box!!

If a coin won't go in the box, is it still a coin?

Yes! I admire these as well. This is where a single submission benefits you. I already have two from recent acquisitions. Two more on the way! Lol. Contemplating some more?

I just bought my first modern coin just so I could get one of the orange ones; celebrating basketball. There free with a basketball coin. I offered a few of my few free submissions for one and was denied.

Received one with my first submission last week. Nice extra! I don’t think they are as durable as the blue boxes. When I pulled the tape off black plastic came with it. Still a nice gift, I hope my current submission comes with one.
