Fed Ex just delivered two PCGS orders -
I was very surprised to see they are in what I believe are
new BLACK plastic PCGS 20-coin plastic boxes!
They look great - I love 'em........

Fred, I don't believe those are the new boxes, more than likely it is an ERROR that got shipped to you!!
Black is the new Blue going forward. Thanks Fred, we think they look great too

So back when the boxes were green, the slab tags were green, then both boxes and tags changed to blue. Now that the boxes are black, is there a tag change in the offing?

a black label would look pretty sharp too
Great (sarcasm)...black is beautiful, when it is clean...and a dust magnet to boot.

Tell me about it. I came home all proud with new black carpet for my office which I installed.
My wife walked in and said WTF? and said what was I thinking of buying a black carpet as it will show everything.
She was right, of course
@BrettPCGS are there any differences in the physical characteristics of the black box as compared to the old blue boxes? Do they now hold NGC slabs too???
Years ago at my former employer, it was time to replace the dirt-colored carpeting in the office area. The genius in charge chose the replacement by dumping coffee on the samples and picking the one that showed it the least. As a result, our office area ended up looking like a parking lot in need of resealing.

It would be sharper if the bottom part was gold.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
They look kind of like the old NGC boxes, but those old NGC boxes seemed to be more translucent.

"Back in Black
I hit the sack
I've been too long I'm glad to be back"
They're not like the NGC translucent black boxes.
These new PCGS Blacks are made of the same plastic
as the green and blue boxes, but the finish is 'matte'
or dull, and not shiny like the old ones.
That's the only difference I can see .
They do hold NGC coins, but so did the old ones.

Of course, we do, good call
She is so purdy that a local Graffiti Artist has been painting her image on objects around town .....
Yeah, but the lids didn't stay closed without an elastic band.
The lids on the blue boxes do not fully shut when I put NGC slabs in them by mistake.
IF the new black ones were 3/16th inch deeper than the old blue ones, the NGC slabs would fit with the lid fully shut.
ANACS slabs do fit in the blue box vertically with the lid shut, but they are loose side to side.

I can honestly say I have never seen black carpet in a house...a car...Yes!
I just said the NGC coins FIT into the box. (lol)
No, the new black box lids do NOT close,
with an NGC coin in them.

When you took the tape off of the box did the gold come off with the tape like it does with the green boxes?
No tape problems with the two we rec'd this morning

I first learned about these boxes on April 10th. Love these boxes.
Here's a photo of its first sighting...
We are easily amused, aren’t we?
😎
I like them
Look very nice!
Scratches and scuffs won't show as much.

This reminds me of my neighbor who told me he deleted “Google” from his computer. I asked him why, and he said he didn’t need it, as his wife knows everything.

They should have a @BryceM collage overlay.
Good - one can now tell difference in Pcgs boxes who easily hold new gen Pcgs slabs.
I am hopeful that someday, the 40+ blue boxes in my closet, will be treasured.
Like modern coins, it will probably take 100+ years. I can wait.

Try to buy an old rattler box on eBay? They're expensive.
I have a few re-cons that I might send in...
Not sure if a $2 plastic box is worth getting denied

I have several green boxes - like about ten....But I like the looks of the new black boxes... so now will need some of those....Cheers, RickO
Wow. Who knew @BrettPCGS is an Easter egg master? That's so awesome.
Black is interesting, but I like the red ones much better.

I think I'd like 'em but not at the $18.50 each that's being offered on ebay right now.
I like those a lot. Kind of fun to see what’s inside.
Just saw the ebay posting you're referring to. Everybody is going to receive these black boxes. Which means it makes no sense that a PCGS Authorized Dealer is selling them at $18.50 each. Sad..
A couple of bucks each would be fine. I don't have enough coins to slab to get one from PCGS so I'll keep my eyes open for REASONABLY PRICED ones on ebay.
Fashionista's may like the look of a Red PCGS box and a Black PCGS box inside a light Sand Color Safe, but what about a 10 coin box that claims to fit both ngc and PCGS coins? Could this be
