Tougher than getting into Harvard, but exponentially more valuable.
Harvard sent three letters to my son asking him to apply. He wanted to major in geophysics and said he could not blow his nose with a degree from Harvard the career he wanted to pursue. He was correct as they don't stack up to other colleges in this field. he also is used to Texas girls, which are far prettier than what walks the campus at Harvard.

I am so glad we live in Texas.
I grew up just south of Boston but have lived in Texas for awhile now. Both great places.

Nothing against the girls in Texas, but pictured on Air Force One in conversation with the then President is my now daughter-law, a Yale grad who said yes to my Harvard educated son.

I will use this opportunity to ask a very serious, OT question @DIMEMAN : Did Charlie pass away recently?
Again, as some people are very flippant - a serious question about a coin collector known to many in this area.
Yes he did I am sad to say...…..it was last week. Are you from the Springfield area? Do I know you? If you have told me before I am sorry...…..I am almost 72 and my memory is not what it use to be.
I have been around the CINA shows on many occasions (thus I was acquainted with Charlie). We do not know each other very well, but I could pick you out of a crowd.
Charlie was a little older than I was aware of. He collected Elephant stuff, including coins featuring them, of course.

Charlie was 72. There is a CINA show coming up in July. Pick me out and say hey. There is also a STL show coming up. Are you going to that?

NBC offered Jerry 5 million per episode to make one last season but, after mulling it over, he declined.
He is quoted as saying that as a comedian he felt like he had to be in touch with the world. The last few seasons he was too busy to keep up with the world outside of the show, apparently. He said the moment he knew he should no longer do the show was: ( I am telling this from memory, hopefully accurate)). He walked into a store and saw a bunch of calling cards hanging up for sale (not the one you would send in lieu of a visit, but the ones used to make phone calls). He had no idea what they were. He had to ask someone.
Brilliant tv show...I learned how to roll a cross-joint while watching part 2 of ‘The Trip’ from season 4...I don’t remember the following couple of episodes off hand, but only because I lit the thing at the very end of it

Thanks guys I was able to get things done.
If you go to your favorite coin show and your favorite dealer has a banner of the former Soviet Union hanging in their booth, that's a big red flag.
Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot ???
Really. WTF?

What is this thread all about?
You know...
...it’s no longer necessary.
This thread is the Seinfeld thread. All about nothing

Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
One of my favorite shows ever and the source for my forum handle. Whether anyone is a fan or never given the show a chance , enjoy this.
That was a GREAT show.
I agree. Great show.
Believe it or not, when I first saw your forum name all I could think of was George Costanza saying that line.
BTW, a Seinfeld thread is fine as long as you don't suggest some kind of "contest".
Better not go there!

I will use this opportunity to ask a very serious, OT question @DIMEMAN : Did Charlie pass away recently?

George likes his Kung Pao spicy!
I have the box set, my favorite show.

@DIMEMAN As for those two coin shows, I do not know. I want to go to Rosemont too, and there is only a finite amount of funds available.
When I see you, I will say something, but I do not know about Springfield or St. Charles MO in July (actually the present month now).
Thanks for the heads-up on Charlie. Everybody knew him.
With so many people trying to make humor a federal offense, it’s a miracle that Mad lasted this long.

That's when he knew.
I was expecting another CAC thread or PCGS v. NGC thread which are much like debates about Pepsi v. Coke.
Ironically, this started as a CAC thread
I didn't even notice that it was an edited thread. I assumed it was new.
Here's some Seinfeld trivia: what collectable coin was mentioned in an episode?
I think there was a show where George found a Mercury dime on Jerry's apartment floor and asks if he can keep it.
There's also an episode when George's father shows him a silver dollar and asks if he'd ever seen one.
This is great and it involves coins. Edited to add it involves lots of coins

That's GOLD, Jerry, GOLD!
As I recall, one of the biggest laughs of the series was in a scene with the simple line, "Titleist?"....
