1959 Proof sets had to be ordered in specific quantities

While looking for something else I found this. You could order one or two sets, but not three. You had to jump to five. Obviously the Mint prepackaged certain quantities and just slapped mailing labels on them.

Is it too late to order a 100?
Nope--- but you'd better hurry before postal rates increase....
But 1+2 = 3. Does it NOT ?!!
Just my two cents.

I'll bet you can find some "original mint packaged sets of 3" on the web!
1959 was a very good year.... Graduated and joined the Navy.....wish I had some '59 mint sets.... Did not even know about them at that time. Cheers, RickO
