Why am I so excited about this 1859 Indian Head Cent?

Several days ago I was browsing Ebay as usual. I was looking through 1859 IHCs, saw this one, and almost immediately bought it. The cost was $36. The real value is likely far higher.
The variety was discovered by Walter Breen in 1953, and since then, few have turned up. In the late 1980s, only about 5 examples were known. Rick Snow said in one edition of his book that about 30 examples are known today, but I believe this number to be closer to 50. Nontheless, a rarity for sure.
Anyone know what it is?

Looks like an FS-301 (Snow-1) to me.

I don't know anything about these but it sounds like you made a well-deserved score. Congratulations!
Something about a different alloy?..

If you did buy it, the oddity is YOU OWN IT !
Knowledge wins!
I have no idea what the variety is, or what the give-away is....You'll have to school us on it.
Does it have anything to do with the marks in front of the O in the word of?

Repunched date.
Please elaborate on your find.... Although I think I see some of what may be a re-punched date, it is not clear with the accumulated dirt.... Cheers, RickO
I'd be excited about the solid, great original look of this coin, alone, would love to read more about the variety! Great score
You bought a dirty, environmentally damaged, PATTERN! Nope, looks like an RPD. S-1???
Way to go!
Knowledge is power.

Is a minor date repunch on a well worn coin like that something to get excited about? I wouldn't get excited until a real cash offer was received from a legit buyer.
Is that a well circulated pure copper pattern? If so, nice score - over a grand!
.
Please don't bring your negative attitude to this forum. Seriously.

Man I just seem to remember some post or article by Rick Snow on an early Indian Cent... he compared two of them and pointed out what was a big deal. I just don't remember what exactly.

Nice!

Some of you hit the nail right on the head. The coin is the Snow-1 RPD, one of the most valuable RPDs of the series. I’ve been looking for one of these for a fairly long time now. The composition is copper-nickel just like almost every other 1859 cent. Would have been cool to find a pattern, but this isn’t it.

If that is an example of what you consider a joke your sense of humor is as sharp as a wooden spoon.
This- agree! Nice pick, and sharp eye.

I do apologize, i work at a Coin shop and someone thought it would be funny to write on my account.
i do apologize for that.
that was rude.

Congrats on the pick-up
Varieties are the spice of numismatics.
The Indian is facing the wrong way !!!?
Nice find. The advantage goes to those who learn.
Nice pick up

I'm rather partial to this scarce variety, too ---
