Good day at the bank!

Eric_BabulaEric_Babula Posts: 441 ✭✭✭✭

So, I went to my bank yesterday to cash a couple checks. I had been there twice in the past 2 months and asked if they had any new 2019 quarters. Nope and nope. This time, I was going to cash my checks, and then ask for the quarters again. But, before I could get to that, my teller, who apparently remembered me, said, "Hey, I have some 50 cent pieces for you. Would you like them?" And, as she opened her drawer and touched them, I heard the distinct ringing of silver on silver!

"Yes, I'll take all of them!!!" I gleefully responded! I didn't care if she had 2 or 200 in there!

She puled out a handful of 50 cent pieces and slid them on the counter. There were only 8, but they all looked kinda really pretty to me!

"I think they're all silver." she says as she slid them closer to me.

"Yeah, these are awesome! Thank you so much!!!"

And, here's what I got for a $4.00 reduction from my checks.....

Totally unexpected! I didn't even realize that she put 2 and 2 together and would remember me at all, much less remember me as a collector!

I'd say, any day that a random bank teller sets aside silver for me is gonna be a very good day! Anything special on 1965 Kennedys that I should look for, or just be happy that I have them?

Still nope on the 2019 quarters, tho. Oh well.

Happy weekend, everyone, and happy coin hunting!

Yeah, I was shocked that she even remembered me at all, much less remembered that I was asking for coins! She's my new favorite bank teller ever! I gotta keep going back there more often!

Very nice and silver finally broke $15.

If the bank teller knows they’re silver why didn’t she buy them herself?

Nice work! And kudos to the teller for remembering you. Great customer service...somewhat rare these days.

Congratulations...I suggest candy or flowers for the teller... You would be surprised what a simple gesture such as that will do....Cheers, RickO

Right?!?! It's been 3-4 weeks since I've been there, and only asked about quarters twice. Very cool of her to remember!

Flowers might be a bit awkward. She's married. I'm married. Candy or cookies or brownies, maybe?? Something she can share if she wants to. I do have to find excuses to go to the bank more often, tho! Even if they don't have anything, at least they won't forget about me!

@Eric_Babula Congrats! That is awesome and that teller is pretty awesome to remember you from all the other customers.

Sounds like a nice pizza party for the bank crew.

The special thing about the 1965's is that they had the lowest mintage of all the 40% that were released into circulation.

BTW I found 6 40% earlier in the week and shared in a post. But Thursday I was in the credit union where I cash in my coin roll searches and the teller recognized me and said I needed to see her before I left. A separate post will be in order.

Hmm, a pizza party! That might be even better than candy! Maybe I can pick up a few pizzas and deliver in a week or so!

Some banks will not allow a teller to do this.

A nice gesture for that certain teller would be nice but I wouldn't involve other workers at that same bank to be aware of these silver finds. They might catch on than there goes your future finds! ;)

Are you speaking of the 1965 Kennedys or the tellers at that bank? LOL (in not being onto the silver craze!)
