More than one 1818/7 small 8 bust half with the exact same scratch

Hey guys, so i just got a little carried away and purchased a 1818/7 small 8 capped bust half, thats easily in AU condition.... before paying attention to the large scratch from the tip of the nose, to the 2nd star from the top on the obverse. I was disappointed, but decided to do a little research as to what this coin would bring at auction, even with the dreaded "details" label. Not long after, i came across a coin, from the same year, variety and type, with the EXACT SAME SCRATCH!!! Could this actually be a mint error, and not something that happened during circulation?

That is because it is the exact same coin...
I know the pictures are completely different in quality, and color saturation....
But I'm not absolutely convinced they aren't the same coin based on some of the toning spots? For instance, the large spot in the obverse left field, near the lower stars. The large spot in the cleavage. Dark spot near the rim, left of the "1".
Wear seems to be very comparable as well....(Though, it would be if one was a copy of the other).
Added: Swear, I hadn't seen cappedlibertyx post before posting mine. (Though, I'm glad I'm not the only one).
Just curious - did the seller find it in a safe inside a 200 year old pottery store?

You need to put your wallet away until you learn how to spot problems on coins. You can't rely on TPG's to do the work for you because most problem coins are not in TPG holders (many having been broken out when they received "details" grades.)

Nailed it. Everything that clown sells is cracked out of a problem slab. They bought it on Heritage June 5 for $168 and you bit on it for $250. You can see how lucrative their little scam is. Was it BIN or were you bidding against "somebody"?
Bidding... jerks! Thats just like people buyung flood cars at a salvage auction, cleaning them up really well, and then reselling them as though it never happened, for full price.
I guess it's possible that the seller is not the crackout guy, but that seems unlikely.
I recall one buyer from eBay upset at me for the price he (willingly) paid for a coin when he realized it had sold very recently for much less at GC.
Even though it was none of his business what I paid (and I bought the coin at a show....not from GC) he still got his knickers all ruffled and wanted to return it.
Coins can and often do change hands very quickly....multiple times at the same show even (quite common).
I get a kick out of being offered a coin that I sold earlier in the day at a show for 2x what I sold it for!
Even in the unlikely event that the coin had changed hands before it was listed on a Ebay, at the very least, the seller has lied on numerous occasions about where he obtained his listings.
