I enjoyed reading this travel log. Hawaii is great although I prefer Maui based on my limited experience. For me, oahu seemed too busy and crowded for paradise.
Fear of flying can be ridiculously stressful for those that have to travel a lot. I have a colleague who starts worrying about a week in advance of trips.

I've never looked back on all my trips I've taken (HI included, several times) and said "damn, I wished I would have stayed at work instead!". True vacations, be it to faraway places, a road trip or just getting out of the house/office for a few days is a good thing for all of us. Life's far too short to be staring at a screen and working late for a boss who may not even give a s***, because he/she has no life and just lives to work.
I hope Laura can enjoy the fruits of her hard work in this industry. Our relationship is non-existent, but will someday revolve around one coin. Still . . .I watch from afar and enjoy the stories of numismatists and 'players' who direct our hobby . . . .
I am glad you went to Hawaii and got some rest. May I suggest you stay longer next time ...like weeks longer.....perhaps several weeks between major shows. You can always do business by phone ....and let your good employees handle things back at the office.
I am glad to hear you are considering your future work hours and perhaps dial it down a bit....and most importantly dial it down in a place you enjoy living. ( like Hawaii).
This can work for you....... I moved 3 years ago from St Louis to the Oregon coast.....living in a home with a 180 degree view of the Pacific ocean and I thoroughly enjoy walking on the beach.......I have been developing a blue mind......... however I still
have my workplace in St Louis.... but Morgan Stanley allows me to be working from my home on the coast. I travel when I need to see clients which for me is about 12 times per year.
I believe this arrangement is adding years to my life.
So I hope you consider the same wherever that may be......for your health and happiness.

40 years in this biz and really caring have taken a bad toll. I am NOT a fan of many things happening today. It angers me nothing is being done-and we all know who the villians are.
Its hard for me to go into my office to work. The stress levels I am engaged at are simply way too much for my own good mentally and physically. Its sad I have to go 5500+ miles away just to think. And that is what I did do this trip. I see a much different life style for me in this biz if the plans I dreamed up can happen.
Still, I am lucky. The person who takes care of my birds and worked 35 years for GM, lost his retirement income when they went belly up. I think of him every day and I know I have no right to be bitter. I just can't deal with my work load getting harder and heavier. It has seriously affected my health.
Not crying for attention. I do feel it is my responsibility to keep my customer base informed as to what I am doing. For now, I'll be at my desk for a while longer! Don't worry, I'll get frisky again in my Hot Topics...
@specialist I'm glad you were able to spend some time away from the office and try to unplug. Some of my best vacations were when I didn't have Internet/phone access. I hope you get to go back and make it to Molokai. I've never been there either but it's on my bucket list for sea kayaking.

I've noticed that for the last couple days. It also says that "you lack permission to access" her comments and discussions under the profile page or language to that effect.
Everyone is so busy and its a rush-rush world. Every so often its great to slow down life and enjoy what the world offers - family, friends and vacations. Everyone should make slow down life every so often - otherwise life gets away from you. Glad to see that Laura will be doing this.

Unfortunately, it seems that @Specialist Laura can’t even relax while on vacation in Hawaii...😢

Nice trip. Next time stay longer and say hi!
I sincerely hope she starts feeling better, she has some of the best eyes in the business.

Happy to hear you had a relaxing trip, although not perfect. Keep resting.... Cheers, RickO
Do not disturb feature on phone is a nice feature. Hopefully, she'll use it next time!
I imagine part of her health issues pertain to not being able to step away to recover.

Wonderful she took a break. I sincerely hope her health continues to improve, and that she does find the magic of slowing down.

I am looking forward to the Hawaii show in November.
It’s always important to find some down time and Hawaii is the place.
I hope she is okay. Hawaii sounds lovely.

If you get better just don't fall into the same routine that got you in the first place.

Good luck.

@specialist,
When you decide to get to Molokai, spend a week there and unplug totally. Molokai is as close to you can get to "Old Hawaii"
