Age is relative to the perception of the individual and the perception by those around the individual.

Are you asking who is actually the oldest or who has been collecting for the longest?

To put it in perspective, if a collector is 76, he has lived through a third of the years that US coinage has be produced. Eric Newman lived through nearly half of those years.

I'm a life member of Baltimore Coin Club and we had a member back in the 1980's who was over 100 years old and he attended the meetings. It was neat to know someone who lived in the 1800's.

Always liked money, but I started collecting in my early teens. I know I still have a blue book dated 1963, and a Red Book dated 1966 so I guess about that time frame.

And to keep this coin related, I do remember he would give me a quarter whenever I came to visit. Unfortunately it was just a Washington quarter, but it was silver.

Ok, I'm relatively new to the collectors universe forum and I am only 28, but I have been collecting US coins since I was about 3 years old(wheat cents to start). I had the pleasure of listening to and learning about coins from my great-grandparents who started collecting in the 1930's(great-grandfather) and the 1940's(great-grandmother). My great-grandpa loved nickels and quarters, there was one nickel he held onto till he died in 2009, a 1890 PR 64 Liberty Nickel in a rattler holder. My Great-grandmother loved Morgan and Peace Dollars, and I am still continuing her Morgan dollar with major varieties set only a few away from completion(peace dollars being completed by her years before she died in 2018). My favorite US coin would be the type 1 standing liberty quarter. The Lady Liberty standing proud ready to defend the gates of humanity with the shield of the naked truth.

One day GOD looked down on this planet and said, "Should I name it Earth or Bob?", Nah I already have a Bob. So he named it Earth, cause I'm older than DIRT.

the bigger question is why newcomers always tend to post in capital letters.
More likely a troll.
Reasoning.
The younger generation was born with an electronic device; and automatically know the “rules-of-the-road/internet.”
The elder generation usually picks up in it by their grandkids.
Basically, anyone who does the “net” generally know or will be lambasted by other denizens for breaking some kind of rule. In this case all caps.
In this case, everyone is being nice here, anywhere else they’d be booted/ignored, etc.
IMO with 1.3c
thanks to all its was not about your age, who been a member here the longest.
Does that include bam time?
Congrats @Gluggo!
Or why old farts refuse to use proper punctuation.
a member here the longest
RickO is probably in the running there, also, as are numerous others because of a dated software change.
Or why old farts refuse to use proper punctuation
Because it saves time, and I don't have much left.:)
A bunch of us came over from the old Boards in 1999. Quite a few are still here.

My Saint Set
Hot peanuts from carts outside the park. 65 cent bleacher seats on benches at Yankee stadium with 50 cent upgrade to upper deck grandstand. We used to hope for drizzle because the Yanks would allow everyone in bleachers to the grandstand. "those were the days".....
Just to add to the above:

Walking the railroad tracks to Oakland
Getting a Hot Dog at the Big O across from Forbes field.

Hey mapleman,
I love and collect older sports memorabilia also

My dad was a die hard Brooklyn Dodger fan. Baseball and football.
Something to be said for NYG #7. Though it's a #32 jersey for me.

When Dodgers left town I switched to the yanks. For some reason I never got to the polo grounds. Only da bumbs stuff I have are 2 replica vintage caps .
Best.
